MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING OF FEBRUARY 10, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
The Port Townsend City Council met for a workshop meeting on February 10, 2014 in the Cotton
Building at 607 Water Street. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m., by Mayor David King.
ROLL CALL
Councilmembers present at roll call were Pamela Adams, Robert Gray, David King, Kris Nelson, Catharine
Robinson, and Deborah Stinson. Michelle Sandoval was excused.
Staff members present were City Manager David Timmons, City Attorney John Watts, Community
Services Director Rick Sepler, Public Works Director Ken Clow, and City Clerk Pam Kolacy.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
Facilitator Casey Reeter received feedback from Councilors on the Vision, Values and Mission draft
which was prepared based on discussion at the prior strategic planning workshop on January 13.
SWOT Exercise — Three -Year Priorities
Ms. Reeterled Council through a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) exercise,
concentrating on the five main objectives identified at the last session: 1) ensure a long-term growth
strategy that fosters community involvement, small town (or city) quality of life, economic diversity,
innovation and technology, environmental stewardship, and unique culture and heritage; 2) improved
insfrastructure to support business growth; 3) sustainable future for public services and facilities; 4)
strong education economy; and healthy City organization.
Information from this session will be used to formulate a draft three-year strategic plan for the City at
the next session, scheduled for March 10, 2014.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
