MISS UNDERSTANDINGS BETIVEE;N BOARD AND HIS OFFICE. HE REF'ERtdD TO A QUESTION RAISED
BY FRANK KILHAM ABOUT A YEAR AGO &IN REGARD TO THE AMOUNT OF CONTROL EXERTED
OVER THE BUDGET.IS THE LIBRARY FUND DETERMINED BY THE LIBRARY,COUNCIL OR THE
MAYOR.HOW MUCH AUTONOMY DOES THE LIBRARY HAVE OVER BUDGETRY MATTERS? THE ANSWER
4AS THAT THE LIBRARY HAS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF CONTROL BUT HUiW MUCH PERCENTAGE AISE
IS DETERMINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL, MORE FUNDS dERE ALLOCATED TO THE LIBRARY
DURING THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR BUT THE STREET DEPT, WAS CUT& THELIBRARY'S BUDGET YYAS
INCREASED FROM 13% to 22 %.
THE MINUTES WERE R READ AND APPROVED. BOB YANDEL THEN READ A LETTER THAT
HE WROTE TO BE FORWARDED TO THE COUNCIL FROM THE BOARD INFORMING THEM OF' SPECIFICS
REGARDING THE STATE CONSULTANT'S ESTIMATE OF THE LIBRARY TO DATE.IT WAS MEN-
TIONED AGAIN THAT THE REPORT WAS A POSITIVE ONE AND SUPPORTIVE OF WHAT HAS BEEN
ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE PAST YEAR.
A LETTER WAS READ FROM BRENT SHIRLEY,CHiLIRMAN OF THE RHODY PARADE REQUESTING
USE O.F SPACE IN FRONT OF LIBRARY FOR THE REVIEWING STAND.THE BOARD APPROVED
THE REQUEST AND ADVISED BEVERLY TO 9bOSE LIBRARY DOORS DURING THE PARADE(SHOULD SHE
DECIDE TO DO 50) A REQUEST WILL BE MADE FOR SANI -CANS AS WELL.
KATHY HAYS,THE COORDINATOR OF' COUNTY LIBRARY EXCHANGE AND SERVICE RESIGNED
AS OF MARCH 1st. FOR REASONS OF HEALTH.RNTIL SOlv1EONE IS FOUND TO REPLACE HER,BE,`V.
HAS AGREED TO CARRYPART OF COUNTY BUSINESS AS WELL AS CITY AS A STOP -GAY MEASURE.
SHE MADE IT CLEAR THAT SHE WISHED THE BOARD'S APPROVAL AND WILL KEEP US APPRISED
OFWHATEVER DEVELOPES IN THE FUTURE. AN ANNOUNCEMENT VYILL BE PLACED IN THE
COMMUNITY CALENDER REGARDING A WORK PARTY FOR A WEEK END IN APRIL. BEVERLY WILL

IDEA AND PERSONALLY OFFERED HIS SERVICES AS PRINTER TO SET TYPE FOR BOOK
WARKS PUBLICIZING SUCH AN ACTIVITY.

CONSIDER THE LIBRARY'S GROWTH AND EXPANSION.
A gUESTION WAS RAISED REGARDING PERMISSION BY LOCAL ARTIST
AND BANNER MAKER,PETER GRITT TO FLY SAID BANNERS FROM THE LIBRARY FLAG POLE.
VARIOUS APkROACHES TO THE POSSIBILITY ARE BEING GIVEN CONSIDERATION.
