The Library Board met at 7 p.m., with four members, Kilham, Stuart,
Wallin and Harms present.
The Secretary's minutes for October and November were read and
approved. Mrs. Wallin gave an interesting report of the many activities
connected with the Library which have been taking place. These included
a pre - school story hour which was very well attended, three films of a
series have been shown, of which the Messiah was the most popular, though
all were excellent. The last one will be shown in December. These films
are available free except for postage. A number of books have been
donated recently to the Library. Ten organizations use the Library at
present.
Work in the furnace room by Mr. Boland will be completed soon and
the shelving materials should arrive any day. These were not ordered
sooner because the roof obviously needed repair which would have to be
paid for first. This was done, fortunately, for only $63.
Mr. Stuart will talk to Bill Daley about the problem of obtaining
funds from the county to help with Library expenses, since about 240
families use the facilities which are at present supported solely by the
city. Mr. Daley_ has expressed the opinion that it would be against the
law.
More effort will be made to get books back - -it is suggested that
notices be sent out --- followed by an attorney's letter of collection.
The Community Library Council report was read by Madge and discussion
followed in regard to the new law which is at present being drafted in
committee. Mr. Kilham will attend a meeting in December in Seattle in
order to keep up to date on what is being done in this area and to express
our views.
