Trustees of the Port Townsend Public Library met on Monday. Dec.
l.st, at 12:15 P.M:u Present were Chr Fottho.ff, Mrs Crist, Mrs
Hunt and Mrs Wallin.
Vouchers were 3igned for the month of November.
Members discussed the Budget for 1970, and reviewed the various
proposed increases in the different Funds. Indications are that
Council., will not grant a Special Ordinance Request for extra
Help Fund, so this Fund probably will be around twelve hundred
dollars less than last year. The.i.r reasoning is that the library
is not open sufficient b -Qurs to serve the public to warrant this
amount in Extra Help. Also increases must be made in the Police
and Garbage Departments, and money is very short. Dr Chuljian
attended the Open meeting of the City Council in November, and
presented our case.
Port Townsend City Council meets again for final decision on the
1970 Budget, Dec It -'t., at 7 :30 P,M. Mrs Wallin asked the Board
members to please attend if they could do so. Tyr Potthoff will
speak for the Board.
Mrs Wallin Informed the members of a statement she had prepared
to be presented to the Council about a week ago, showing the
progress that h as occurred in the library in the past four years.
Before submitting; this report she had contacted the Board members
by telephone, asking; permission to do this.
Mr Potthoff and Mrs Hunt stated they would attend the City Council
meeting this evening.

Mrs Hunt informed the members that she had contacted Mr Nichols at
his office at 'j'uestern Shores, to inform him of this meeting today.
Mr Nichols told her of his resignation from the library board, and
stated that he would put this in writing to Mr Potth.off. He stated
as his reasons, press of business, and that he did not concur with
the other members in the manner in which the library was operated.
It was agreed b7 the membe?,s that we accept Mr Nichols resignation.
