Board of Trustees of the Fort Townsend Public Library met
Feb 2nd with all members present and two guests- -Mayor Dennis
Sullivan and Mrs John Scov representing Friends of the Library.
Minutes of January meeting; were read and approved.
Report of Miss Rutledge:
New aid in the evenings, Shirley Spracklen. A volunteer worker,
Mrs Sheffler has been assisting with magazines. These will be arrang-
ed alphabetically. Mrs Shefflerr, has proved an excellent worker in this
field.
Miss Rutledge suggested that some old issues of the header could
be photo- stated to complete State records.
A representative of Chimacum School library has contacted Miss
Rutledge to ascertain if the arrangement between the library and the
school would be the same as in the past. Previous arrangement made by
Mrs Cumings has been the privelege of two cards. This has been allowed
due to necessary travel to Port Townsend. Board agreed to allow this
privelege for the remainder of the year.
Circulation. Has :improved in some arc -as, but not increased in
others.
Miss Baumeister is improving. She proves to be excellent in cat-
aloI ng, and is a great help in other ways.
Discussion was held as to disposal of the duplicating machine.
This is badly in need of repair. Mr Sullivan was hopeful that the
City Police Dept. might be able to repair and use it.
With Mayor. Sullivan present, clean -up of the library grounds was
. discussed, the Board regi.)egta.ng the labor of prisoners when available.
Mrs Scov, representing Friends of the Li'::.rary, reported she knew of
someone, who eoi.ild bind children's books, would do this one evening a
week for free.
Mrs Frank Smith, a newly retired resident to Port Townsend has
also volunteered to o, -ive one evening; a week to the library.
Friends of the Library have donated an amount in excess of one
hundred twenty dollars for t-he past two and one half years for books
for the Children 's Story hour. They have currently contributed thirty
dollars (-'130.00) for Art hooks for children.
The Board reviewed the appl'_cations received, and asked Mrs Hunt
to arranrre for a meeting with Miss Marjorie Reynolds in the very near
future.
