Present: all board members except Conrad Schwenke
Meeting was called to order at 7:40 by chairman Jesse Harms
Minutes were read and approved
vouchers were signed
Librarian Bev Lamb submitted her report (attached) and called attention to
the summer reading caravan and the progress in the skill's exchange
The first issue of AMENITIES was circulated. Plans are to continua with a
shorter, more news - oriented magazine /newsletter
There were no communications.
Cheryl van Dyke reported on her committee's meeting with Lois Kristjanson
and the initial work on her project has begun; she has agreed to follow
the board's guidelines; another meeting has been set for July 15.
Under Old Business:
Bev Lamb reported on the bug problem. The extension agent has identified
what the board saw as itinerant carpenter ants who pose no threat to
the library building.
Under New Business:
The board has changed its monthly meeting date to the last Monday of the month.
The board approved Eleanor Johnson's taking a five -day emergency sick -leave
from her accumulated sick leave in response to her sister's grave illness.
It was agreed that the library would be open Saturday, July 5, and that the
library use would be evaluated for determining future policies on opening
the day after a holiday.
Bev Lamb submitted "Dreams for the Library" (attached). It was recommended
that several of the items be included in the next budget
Jim Heynen agreed to check on National Endowment for the Arts library
programming.
Bev Lamb is to come up with 5 -year plan specifics, including specific
cost information on tape and record listening room equipment.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm
