in response to receiving copies of the Library Board meeting.
They will be unable to attend tonight's meeting because of
a conflicting special Council meeting.
Committee Reports:
1. Building Committee chair Laurie Stewart reported that
a 40% increase in lighting value can be obtained from the
• existing fluorescent lighting by changing bulbs and washing
the diffusers. (Noted: we have cheap diffusers.) Based on
his research, he recommended the installation of "Warm White
Watt Miser II" bulbs rather than the "wide Spectrum" type,
which provide better color resolution but less light.
Carley's can provide the bulbs as cheaply as Williams Electric
through All Phase Lighting in Port Angeles. The Board
authorized the expenditure of up to $700.00 for the purpose
of replacing as many light bulbs and defective ballasts as
possible. A work day with volunteers and Rob Marean will be
arranged to make the changes.
At the invitation of the Jefferson County Library staff
and Board, a member of the Building Committee (Vicki Lea - Shelton
was present when introductory presentations were made by several
architects bidding for the design contract for the new
Jefferson County Library building.
Pete Kaiser has joined the Building Committee as the
Friends of the Library representative. He will begin
collecting statistical data for the building study and
investigate the parking situation.
Pete Raab of Townsend Builders has submitted a bid of S 1411.40
the replacement of the canopy over the front entrance. The
Board asked for two more bids to be submitted. Laurie reported
that the existing canopy is stable and safe after Rob's repairs.
