HomeMy WebLinkAbout092884MINUTES Library Board Meeting September 28, 1984 The Meeting was called to order 7:45; vouchers were signed. The Librarian's Report indicated that the ivy had been removed from the windows and much of the trap half of the building. Tom Kimball has completed and installed the library work counters, the staff will sand and oil them. Correspondence: A letter from Otto 'Smith was received requesting a discount on lease time on the Apple IIe computer in exchange for several hours of computer instruction. The Board discussed the proposal and decided to offer Otto 100 hours of computer use at the regular price and to contract with him for 6+ hours of computer instruction at $25.00 /hr. Committee Reports: Building Committee Flagpole- -The American Legion suggested talking to Puget Power re flagpole replacement; tabled until Sue returns. Painting - ---Bids for cornicework painting range from $625- -approximately $1,000. Laurie will further investigate low bid. Shelving- -Rob Marean will no longer be doing major repairs and carpentry work. A bid from Mark Stout was submitted for $350.00 to cover costs of building magazine shelving. Bev will get further details from him concerning design and anchoring of shelving. Computer Committee -- Computer use down, committee will meet soon to discuss reasons and possible ways of encoraging more public use. Old Business: General discussion re County /City useage of library and recent publicity concerning the elimination of fees. There has been little public response. New Business: Cheryl and Bev summarized the City Council Retreat which developed budgeting and bond issue priorities. A new or renovated /expanded library building was #3 on the Council's list for general obligation bond capital expenditures. Library priorities for the 1985 budget included increasing the book budget and the librarian's salary. The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
