HomeMy WebLinkAbout081484(a • PORT TOWNSEND LIBRARY BOARD MEETING 14 August 1984 Present: Cheryl Van Dyke, John Marckworth, Laurie Stewart, Vicki Lea - Shelton, Beverly Lamb and Pete Kaiser. Building Committee Reports: 1) Pete Kaiser recommended attention be given to the ivy on the building and surrounding area that has grown significantly in recent months. Motion: Approval of up to $50 for selective pruning and trimming of ivy climbinb on building. Passed. Pete Kaiser will also dig around stair walls to prevent further unauthorized movement of wall due to ivy growth. 2) Laurie Stewart reported receiving a bid from Tom Plut for painting the ramp on the back of the building and the metal cap around the roof ($425 & $625). Suggestion made to check with Friends for possible project -- painting ramp. Requested additional bids for painting metal cap on roof. 3) Flagpole replacement, estimate $200. Possible Friends project or American Legion donation? Vouchers signed. _Workshop in Librar Leadershi . September 20 -22, Yakima Holiday Inn. 35 covers all costs, except transportation. LSCA grant administered through Washington State Library provides remaining costs. Attendees: Bev & Vicki; probably Sue, Maybe Cheryl and Laurie. Librarian's Report: 1) Friends made $700 at the Book Sale at the Jefferson County Fair. 2) Photocopy machine is producing revenue and providing sufficient income to cover in -house photocopying. 3) Local Book Month Reception, October 21. 4) Bev checking on legality of serving liquor at special events in the library. 5) Children's book bin will be offered for sale to other libraries. Not useful to library. 6) Postpone policy review until September meeting. 7) Shelving estimates available at next board meeting. A possible emergency fund item to replace collapsed periodical shelving. Next board meeting: August 28, 7:30pm.
