HomeMy WebLinkAbout052284PORT TOWNSEND LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES OF MEETING 22 May 1984 7:50pm Present: Cheryl Van Dyke, John Marchworth, Laurie Stewart, Sue Sidle, Vicki Lea - Shelton, Beverly Lamb Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Librarian's Report: Washington State Library Commission meeting in Friday Harbor, June 14. Trustees are encouraged to attend. Legislative Hearing for the "State Supplemental Funding for Public Libraries" Bill, also known as the "$1 Bill" will be June 15 in Olympia. Trustees are encouraged to attend. Kiwanis has given $500 for summer programs at the library. The West Library Service Area meeting is scheduled to be in Port Townsend. Report on the Washington Library Association annual conference in Pasco in April. Two grants were applied far - -LSCA funds The Washington State Library will be holding grant writing workshops in the near future. Cheryl Van Dyke was requested to attend a meeting with the City Council's Finance Committee, to clarify the Library Board's input to the Planning Process. They requested documents showing status of annexation or cooperation with the Jefferson County Library. They requested information comparing remodeling costs versus new building costs. They asked if the $18,000 budgeted for architectural drawings in 1985 would provide drawings for a new building. Bev will provide information on annexation. Cheryl will obtain cost comparisons between new and remodeled. County User Policy. Motion: The Port Townsend Library Board establish as a policy that library use and service are available to any user with a permanent address in Washington without fee. Seconded and Passed. Cheryl and Bev will publicize user fee policy to county board and newspaper. General Library Policies. Bev will request policies from other libraries. The Board will begin evaluating and up- dating policies at June meeting. Computer Use Policies. Motion: The Port Townsend Library Board requests the Computer Committee to review the computer user policies and make recommendations for any needed changes. Seconded and passed. Sunday, October 21. Writers and publishers day at the library sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Bev will check on legality of serving alcoholic beverages in the library for special meetings. Adjourned at 9:35pm.
