Present: Vicki Lea - Shelton, John Marckworth, Sue Sidle,
Laurie Stewart, Cheryl Van Dyke, Beverly Lamb
Purpose of the meeting was to discuss the planning effort
requested by the P. T. City Council. The planning process
is to include a preliminary 1985 estimated budget to be
ready by April 15,1984. In addition, a five -year plan for
estimated expenses of capital improvements and continuing
costs has been requested.
Through discussion it was acknowledged that continuing
budgetary support was essential, a stable source of funding
must be found. In order to accomplish the goals in our
current 5 -year plan for library services, an expanded and
improved facility is needed. As the facility is made to
serve more adequately, there will be more need for increasing
staff time, improving the library collection, and continued
operating costs. The City Council has requested that each
individual request be itemized and prioritized. The priority
is good library service to the community.
In order to have a presentation prepared, the following
assignments were made:
Beverly: Map of city property, levy lid information- -
other cities, NEH Grants for seed money for
building plan, begin a salary schedule
Laurie: Architectural conceptural plans - -cost of
preparation, when available, RFP from architects
John: Graphs for formal presentation
Needs for 1984: Continue researching budget for valid and
realistic expenditures.
Seek seed money for architectural drawings.
Needs for 1985: Adequate budget.
Increased budget for staff and materials.
Present plans, drawings and costs.
Seek matching funds.
Request for Proposal from architects.
Call for bids.
Building program needs:
Professional- looking graphics presentation.
Time lines.
Seed Funding
Research fees and fee structures
Architectural fees
Remodeling $ /sq. ft. verses new $ /sq. ft.
