Librarians Present: Bev Lamb, Beth DeJarnette, Carol Baird
Lights: A florscent light fixture has been installed in
the Young Adult reading area, and the quality of light seems
inappropriate. Librarians will obtain other types of tubes,
and try different combinations for an improved ambience. Track
lighting is to be installed over the Ferry. Erik Frederickson
is the contractor for this.
Librarian's Report was presented (see hand -out) and
Voucher's were signed.
Typewritter: Bev presented a flyer on an IBM typewriter
that would be an asset to the library and presented costs.
She will compare a couple of other brands and report back to
the board.
Inventory: To be scheduled for March 25 -28, and will
require that the library be closed March 26 -28.
Book Selection Policy: Vicki moved, Laurie seconded,
and board passed the following addition to the recently
approved Book Selection Policy: The library shall provide
a core collection of fiction that demonstrates enduring
worth.
Surplus Property list presented by Bev and approved for
disposal by board. Includes miscellaneous inoperative items
from typewriters to ladder.
Grounds Maintenance. A bid was received from Jim Peters
for grounds maintenance for 1985. Bev will check with the
Parks Department to see what other options are available.
1985 WLA Annual Conference. Registration fees are to go
before the City Council, so registration forms must be turned
in to Bev by February 28.
Polaroid Camera. The Polaroid Company has offered free
cameras to public libraries. Bev will follow up to see if we
can obtain one.

Washington Center for _Community Education is chaired by
Janel.l Carlson in Port Townsend. Bev attended their first
meeting at which expanded use of the school facilities was
discussed.
Painting. Tom Plut is re- checking his bid.
John Marckworth informed the board that he intends to
resign from the board due to other commitments. His term
would have expired in 1987.
