BOARD OF TRUSTIES
MINUTES OF REGULAR ME9'INGG
September 22, 1588
Call to order 7 :30 pm.
Signed vouchers. Minutes of previous meeting summarized, MSA.
Librarian: described decision process of State Board, for grantb, as
to non public meetings. Feeling that discussions should be free
and intimate; casual remarks might be taken out of context, or
wrongly by public. Others think all discussions should be open
and public.
Videos described.previously have 15e'en acquired, need cataloging ;,
also several video 'games,, .; Mare" girls using these.
Janata video- reoording equipment no longer at City Hell, space is needed.
Possible setup at School next year, in tandem with School equipment.
Question of safety dr d access will be studied. Would be in separate
room with restricted access, oo,other use of room. Board,agreed
on this.approaah, Janet will follow up.
Budget was discussed; Bev has set, up presuming a moire before construction.
No problems were found.,

Discussed position of Project Supervisor, mechanics and duties.
For first meeting with cshosen Architect, 2 or 3 members will meet.
Building Committee will" medt for final contract decision.
Project Supervisor: advertising needed? Advice is that i:f''professional
services, need not. Building Committee recommended that Project
Supervisor be hired, and that Bob Little be chosen.
MOVED - to hire Bob Little as Project Supervisor. MSApprgved..''Contract.
to.be negotiated, to be approved at September Board meeting. Bob
`Little will be phoned by Bev.
Budget Committee: Lars - described meeting with City Finance Committee,
discussion inconclusive; general idea that there probably are ways
to fill gap in needed construction ..funds.
..`1989 Budget; postponed# probably to a special meeting.
-,Salary Step System «- latest draft discussed and explained. Can
be adjusted for inflation. Effect :, salaries in 1889 up 2%.
Benefits alone will be up over 7%.
MOTION - Budget- to be ad "ted either at a special meeting, or at
next regulAr meeting if that is feasible. MSA.
MOTION - Salary Step System also to adopted at same time.
Lib cian Job Description was, submitted,in draft by Bev, drawing on
those from other libraries. Discussed, continued.
Video Tape Circulation'Plicy, discussed and continued.
Bev - Ci.ty. Council, Retreat on Sept. 8';, objectives for next year
to be given. Priorities: Building Project; Step System for Staff.
