BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Meeting January 15, 1990
Call to order 1 pm. Signed vouchers.
MOTION MSA to accept minutes of previous meeting.
Also a Resolution of thanks to Mi.nuti.ng Secretary and
request to continue.
UNFINISHED --
On testing Library for air pollutants: Bev suggested doing as
proposed, estimated cost $600., justified by need to know if
any visitors are affected.
MOTION ; MSA to add $100, making total authorized $600 for testing.
TILES — ever 800 sold, main operation closed; others can be accepted
for Friends.
CHILDRENS ROOM -- Beth — need ideas, won't have the loft; need
other ideas specifically for this room.
Furniture bids to be opened on 13th; work to do in June.
Suggestion for celebrations in new Building before formal
opening; Peter Gritt; Community Orchestra-?
BUILDING —
Alternate lists , price estimates for walkway, etc.
Locust Tree — Council wants retained; retaining wall?
Lamp standards along Walkway; could be next to old bldg;
discussion. Library Architemt may halp on desigm.without
charge.
Capital improvements, e.g. curbs and sidewalk; perhaps better
done by private company; but City has design standards. Should
ask M. Hildt,
Painting: Tom Plut has donated paint and time. Gwen suggested
name on Carnegie Plaque.
MOTION, MSA — Bev will write letter of thanks and apprbiation.
Main Power Box has been moved from front to inside.
Assesment of General Contractor: good; 11 ir`�`on change orders.
Landscaping — contracts should be out mid — March. There is no
plan; need master design. Decided to ask for proposal and
statement of interest, of several local landscaping persons.
Bev — ppioriti.es for City Council: Parking, Books (budget same
since 1985).
Perhaps book donations can be encouraged.
POLICY --
Mike, City COI, at 3�%, Library is staying with 496.
At February meeting, report on success of present hours;
At March meeting, 4$cuss and recommend future hours.
Gwen described need for open applications for page jobs, etc.,
to allow young persons to get experienne in applying.
N=S -- policy on future use of video equipment; and
meeting room use.
PUBLICITY — need good brochure. Have video made?
ENTRANCE PLAQUE — Mike recommends putting wording of First Amendment;
after discussion,
MOTION MSA To add First Amendment to plaque.
OFFICERS -- MOTION, MSA, to continue all officer and committee
assignments.
