ORDINANCE NO. 2/q~
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO ZONING, DEFINING
"BARN" AND "PRIVATE GARAGE", PERMITTING BARNS
AS PRIMARY USES IN THE R-IA ZONING DISTRICT,
ADDING NEW SECTIONS AND AMENDING SECTIONS
17.16.010 AND 17.16.030 OF THE PORT TOWNSEND
MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.
A new Section 17.08.038 is hereby added to the
Port Townsend Municipal Code as follows:
~7.08.058 Barn. "Barn" means a building designed and
used primarily for shelter and storage of livestock,
livestock feed, and agricultural equipment.
Section 2.
A new Section 17.08.196 is hereby added to the
Port Townsend Municipal Code as follows:
17.08.196 Garaae. Private. "Private garage" means a
building or portion of a building designed and used
primarily for storage of automobiles, motorcycles, boats or
other vehicles for personal use and which building or
portion is not rented or occupied for gain.
Section 3.
Section 17.16.010 of the Port Townsend Municipal
Code is hereby amended to add the following listed
uses:

Section 4.
Subsection 17.16.030(E) is hereby added to Section
17.16.030 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code to read as
follows:
(E) Barns shall be setback a minimum of 50 feet from side and rear
property lines within the R-I(A)zoning district and 100 feet from
any property line which abuts any other residential zoning
district.
Section 5. Severability. In the event any one or more of the
provisions of this ordinance shall for any reason be held to be invalid,
such invalidity shall not affect or invalidate any other provision of
this ordinance, but this ordinance shall be construed and enforced as if
such invalid provision had not been contained therein; provided, that
any provision which shall for any reason be'held by reason of its extent
to be invalid shall be deemed to be in effect to the extent permitted by
law.
Section 6.
Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective
five days after its passage and publication.

for the second and third times and passed by the City Council of the
City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held
