The meeting was called to order by President John Sullivan at 5:23 PM.
The minutes from the August 23rd meeting were approved as read.

Staff: The children's staff has begun reading the third installment in the popular Harry
Potter series. They read Tuesday nights at 6:30.
Children's choir will begin October 5`h from 4:30 -- 5:30, for children ages 7 and up.
Dahti Blanchard is continuing her homeschool workshop series once a month. The most
recent topic was Ancient Egypt.
The children's staff is planning a program of scary stories, costumes, scary movie and a
giant pumpkin raffle on October 30`" at 6:30 PM.
Beth, Dahti, and Bev continue visiting local schools to promote library cards and to do
booktalks.
Carol Costello and Carol Cahill attended a Microsoft Frontpage (web page) workshop in
Portland last week.
Carol Costello will attend the annual meeting of the Washington Association of Library
Employees (WALE) in Ocean Shores in October.

Old business: Linnea has not received any feedback from David Timmons regarding the
2000 budget. However, there is no extra revenue projected for the city. David has asked
several department heads to reorganize their spending for the next budget year, but is not
asking Linnea to do this.
Bill Maxwell will not be here for the next board meeting, October 25`h. There will be no
monthly meeting in December.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM.
