Director's Report: There was no written report. The Jefferson County Rural Library District has
hired Ralph Delamarter, retired librarian, as a consultant to study the feasibility of annexing Port
Townsend Library. Ralph has sent requests for information to both libraries. He will meet with
board members from the Port Townsend Library on Friday, August 9th at 9 AM.
The staff has been discussing what possible things they could quit doing in order to lessen the
workload. Possibilities include only one craft per month at children's story hour, ceasing to have
adults sign Internet agreements and rearrangement of open hours.
Linnea is asking for more hours for staff for the 2002 budget.
City manager David Timmons, county library director Bill Mitchell, and Linnea have discussed
moving forward with the steps needed to explore possible annexation of Port Townsend Library
to Jefferson County.
Linnea and Bill Mitchell are seriously considering melding certain staff duties between the two
libraries in 2002. Duties being considered are interlibrary loan, cataloging, and staffing of the
reference desk.
Friends of the Library: Karen Long reported on the July 10`h meeting. Approximately $1500
was raised during the book sale. So far this year the group has raised $7600 during fundraisers.

meetings are scheduled the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM in the library.
Staff Report: Beth deJarnette told the board about the success of the summer reading program.
