Called to order at 9:10 A. M.. Next meeting will be December 9. Communications: Kate was contacted by a concerned citizen who had heard that the library was devaluing youth programs. She assured her they would go on. Theresa reminded us we should let people know it is mainly a matter of moving collections and that there is now a hiring freeze in the city so some things are on hold until a new youth services librarian can be hired. Bill was at a meeting where a woman made a spirited statement in defense of libraries. Julie has heard from Seattle Public Libraries about scheduled tours. After the first of the year, the board will plan a field trip. Friends — no report. Kate will attend the meeting today. Foundation — Nothing new. They are waiting for reports and decisions on capital improvements. Librarian's report: The final report on the Scribe -to- Screen program is due later today. It looks like it was very good as a program but not a money - maker. About ninety people attended. Several good contacts resulted and the experience gained will make the next program better attended. Theresa hopes to produce an annual report this year which will be available to the public. The Advisory Board will have a page. Think about what you want us to say to the world. On November 17, in the Olympic Room at Waterman & Katz, will be the budget meeting of the City Council that deals with the library. Theresa will be making a short presentation. The city budget schedule was passed out. Theresa will send Email as to which meetings board members should attend. October statistics were circulated. The Christmas open house will be December 9t' from 3 -6 P. M. Expect local celebrity story readers, the children's choir and goodies. The library will close at noon on December 23rd and will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The marketing plan is in progress and should be available to preview at the next meeting. The city is doing a facility survey which will include the library. Old business: 11/12/04 Page 2 of 2 The Long Range Plan was Emailed and was discussed.
