Port Townsend Public Library Advisory Board

The minutes of the January meeting were approved.
There were no communications, no public comment.
Director's Report: PC Cop was installed in January. Public approval is high, but
four new computers will be required, as the program will not run on Windows 98. The
program allows patrons to register for computer use without staff involvement. The
director has obtained $2000 from members of the community for the computer project.
A website consultant has been hired for the library.
Jody Glaubman will begin March 1St as Senior Library Associate /Teen Specialist.
The Scribe to Screen program will present "Young Frankenstein" on April 2nd
with Cloris Leachman as our guest.
A task force will be assembled to work with the City to begin planning for an
addition to the building. The members are Ken Clow (PT Public Works), Sarah Bank,
Whitney Miller, Bill Maxwell, and Theresa Percy. When proposals are received from
architects, a meeting will be held with David Timmons to define the process of fund
raising.
It is hoped that the space on the second floor can be rearranged to be more useful.
It may be that outside advice from an expert in space utilization is needed.
Friends of the Library: The next book sale will be held on March 1.1 t". Space is
needed for storage of donated books between sales. The library mugs are selling well.
Library Foundation: The orientation meeting for the new foundation board was
held on January 22nd, with Liz Heath from the Nonprofit Center conducting the training.
The six new members were enthusiastic about rebuilding and revitalizing the foundation
as a major fund raising organization for the library. At the March annual meeting, on
March 18`n, officers will be elected, committees will be formed, and fund raising
priorities will be examined in consultation with the library director.
President Larry Thomas announced that his term expires on May l 5`, and that he
does not plan to seek another appointment to the board. Possible candidates were
discussed, and the matter is held over until March.
The next meeting will be at 9 am on March 161n
The meeting adjourned at 10:45 am.
