Pink House Members present: Bill Maxwell, Julie Owens, Kate Schumann, Eileen Price Staff present: Theresa Percy Public present: Larry Thomas & Caitlin Harrison Minutes of the last meeting: Approved with reminder to send them to Geralynn (Friends) and Mary (Foundation) Communications: Kate continues to get comments about the messy library grounds. Public Comment: Larry reminded a resident that the book she had recently purchased could have been borrowed from the Port Townsend Library for free. Caitlin asked that the library revisit both baby programs as they seem to fall during common naptimes. Caitlin also complimented the library for the ease with which her mother -in -law was recently issued a temporary library card. Director's Report: You all should have received this from Theresa in an earlier email. Old Business: • Bill wrote a letter to Mark Decker thanking him for his interest in serving on the Library Advisory . Board but, knowing that his schedule is so full, asked that he step down. Mark has agreed to do so and the Board will search for a replacement for him. Bill also wrote a memo to Pam Kolacy which the City Council will consider on May 7-t' asking that the Board be permitted to expand to seven members if needed. • Caitlin's appointment to the Advisory Board will become effective in May • PTPL still has the highest circulation per capita for the entire state of Washington • Theresa is looking into the problem of patrons' inability to renew on line (program glitch with a new system forthcoming) New Business: • Julie Owens attended her last meeting as a Board member and was thanked for her service to the library • The Board discussed whether PTPL should consider charging overdue fines on books as well as DVDs • A joint meeting with The Jeff. Co. Library Advisory Board was proposed to discuss the overdue fine issue as well as updating each other on our respective strategic plans and capital campaigns • Teen Advisory Board -- Jody has about 15 active teens and we will invife her to our next meeting to hear about the program. • Carol Baker is retiring at the end of May • Unsure as to when Lynn Ring will return to work • No money left in 2007 budget for substitutes Meeting adjourned at 10:40 Next meeting is May 17, 2007
