Community Members: Fran Post, campaign manager, library levy; George Randels,
city council, deputy mayor
1. Minutes Approved unanimously
II. Communications:
a. Eileen: Her board term is officially up, contacted David Timmons
about continuing after term limits. Has to go to council. Consulting
with Mayor.
b. Wes: Representing us on library foundation board, he becomes official
voting member -is he voting as an individual or for library board? No
clear answer, Bill suggests for board.
Ill. Staff Reports: Theresa comments:
a. Added new staff person Lee Brown, through work program for two
years.
b. Poetry month successful, as well as Kurt Von. Month
c. Book lover's cafe at senior center really growing -good community
outreach
d. PT Library second highest ranked in state and first in size by library
metrics measurement
IV. Bill & Fran Campaign update:
a. Funding for campaign: Friends are reluctant to give money in support
of campaign
i. Fran & Bill have spent time assuaging fears about legal issues
ii. Friends feel they need to poll membership -not really time
iii. Foundation said they may not support monetarily or even
potentially support issue
iv. Bill has contacted, concerns include different structure for
Financing
b. Fran shares info on campaign literature and proposed campaign
budget and pieces
c. Bill proposes letter to send from board to friends
i. Theresa: Ray had similar issues with friends during their
campaign
d. Bill proposes sending letter to foundation as well formally asking for
support
e. George points out that mass mailing could rouse "sleeping dogs,"
expresses caution
f. Benjamin: Shares suggested changes in language for mailings
g. Meeting ajourned
