Steering Committee Update — A new addition to the notes will be the Steering Committee
update. The meeting is a result of the work that Kris Mayer did to help the library be
more successful. It is a meeting with the heads of each of the library's boards (Friends of
Library, Library Foundation and Advisory Board) as well as Theresa. It is currently
meeting weekly due to the capital campaign but, normally meets monthly.
On Monday April 25th the city council will vote on the expansion project. All board
members are invited to attend. Bill Maxwell and Cameron McPherson are scheduled to
speak.
The name is changing from the "library expansion" project to the "library campus"
project since the Pink building is included.
The Pink building renovations are scheduled to begin the end of summer. We are very
excited local contractors will be allowed to bid on the project. In order for renovations to
begin on the Carnegie Library we will need a % of the total money needed for the project
to be achieved.
The city is reviewing plans to use the basement of the renovated Carnegie Library as an
emergency service center in the event of an emergency during the recovery phase.
Foundation — The goal is to start the Carnegie building expansion in 2012. Warren will
be stepping down for now as the Campaign Manager until we need him again.
Friends — Book Sale June 11 th
Director update — Submitted proposal to First Federal for joint CLAN project was denied.
Hoping to resubmit a PTEF grant.
Teresa, Warren and Cameron met with Steve Tharinger and Jim Hargrove to try and
secure the Heritage Grant funds.
Ken Dane gave an update on the grant process and we found a NEH challenge grant for
500K that we hope to get. It is a 3:1 match.
Staff Reports — none
Ben Dow will be attending the next Foundation board meeting.
Wes Eng is not renewing his library advisory board position. This was his last meeting
