Keith Public: Ray (last name withheld) Public Comment: Ray: Notes that library and city website have specific language differences about library board. Should remove board of trustees phrasing from websites. Also says unclear that board answers to city council and library director. Ken clarifies that from city point of view, we advise them, and from library's board view we advise director. Caitlin notes that as a board member it feels like we are truly advising both Ray: Notes that we should have public reporting to the website. Ken -- clarifies minutes are available on city website. 0 Ray: Would like minutes on library website Caitlin— strong positive feeback on the switch to Polaris ability to search Mirandy -•-- -great selection tools so you can search much more easily FOUNDATION & FRIENDS REPORTS 1. Mirandy —Dec. Meeting - -have prepared internal audit, have raised 10,OOOs on house parties and friends made a donation. 2. Ben —Jan. Meeting— hiring a staff person. Have raised around 650,000 about 150,000 left to raise over each year of the expansion project 3. Ben — Friends Report Jan. —Set book sale dates for Spring and are writing to ask members to donate to Carnigie campaign STAFF REPORT: Keith I. Talks about upcoming community read: Winterkill Craig Lesley a. Looked for a book with a more masculine theme this year b. Will have programs around hunting and wilderness— barrel riding • and archery demonstrations at fairgrounds —also programs on treaty and fishing rights V • • II. Big thing is working on move. Kids will be across from law enforcement, everything else in Mountain View cafeteria. QUESTIONS: Ken: enough space for everything? Yes Date? Looking at April. Cost of move? Don't have specifics yet. III. Ken: Went to meeting about strategic plan. Lots of talk about future of libraries with advent of ebooks. IV. Keith gives update on ebooks use of "overdrive" to run virtual library — question do we really "own" books in traditional sense. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Not present OLD BUSINESS: None YEARLY LIBRARY REPORTS ANALYSIS: Ken — provided statistical analysis of yearly reports. Showed trends in lending data. Most hard copy book categories down, non -book categories up. Also YA books also way up.
