Members Excused: Nathan Allen, Kiera Miller-Hodlik, Mirandy Cook Staff Present: Theresa Percy Guest: Jim Todd Scribe: Jennifer Cohn Introductions and welcome to Jim Todd, Guest. No Public Comment. No minutes from February available to review. Communications: • Ken Dane has been working with and writing and finalizing grants with the Grants Committee. • Youth services was busy during February. Mirandy presented literacy programs every week, Jean-Marie visited Head Start classes, Chinese New Year was celebrated at the Carnegie with over 100 children and parents attending. • Jody is working on this year's Community Read, and just attended a State Library Media Association Workshop on the best teen books of 2012. • The Library had a teleconference with UW on the Paul Allen Grant. • "Let's Celebrate" Dance was filmed and is now in final production. Staff Report(Theresa): • Reminded us of the Community Read. • The PTPL and PT School District will have a retreat in August (Aug 23) on what a 21 st Century Library Collection will look like. We need to gather some community profile information as background for the Workshop and for the Paul Allen Grant and other grants. Ken has general community and county information and will provide this. • The City Council has approved the process for presenting the Library Plan to the Community. The Town Meeting is scheduled for April 8. • A member asked if there will still be a need for offsite storage of the collection if a full expansion of the Library is approved. No, the full expansion will hold the entire collection. If this is not approved, we must plan for alternative storage--it may be that a significant amount of material would have to be put in storage. • Collection development is essential for a library. The Humanities and Paul Allen School and Library Collaboration grants call for the incorporation of books in the History of Art, Biographies, Theater, the Copper Canyon Collection, local authors. Foundation Report from Feb 25th Meeting (Jennifer): Foundation Officers were approved by electronic vote in January, going into effect February 2013. They are: President: Chelcie Liu; Vice-President: Polly Lyle; Vice- President (Fundraising): Cameron McPherson; Recording Secretary: Jennifer Cohn; Corresponding Secretary: Janie Kimball; and Treasurer: Mari Friend. • Theresa distributed a handout that she prepared for the March 4th City Council meeting, outlining the capital project funding of project costs for Phase 4 and 5, revenue estimates, and potential known sources. • The Board will be receiving a up-to-date Treasurer's Report (including pledges, cash-in- hand, and expenses, as well as a final 2012 Treasurer's Report. Friends of the Library Report from Minutes: • The Kick-off for the 2013 Community Read was Saturday, March 2. • The Book Sale was held on March 9 at the Community Center. New Business for Next Meeting: • Eileen Price is leaving the Advisory Board, after serving for 15 years! We thank her for her long service to the Board. • New members to serve on the Advisory Board are needed. The Meeting ended at 5:15 pm Next Meeting: April 16, 2013
