AN ORDINANCE REZONING BLOCK 209 OF THE EISENBEIS
ADDITION TO THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, FROM R-II
TO R-III ZONING; AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP
OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND; AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Rezone Application ]286-02 was filed with the City, re-
questing the rezone of Block 209, Eisenbeis Addition to the City of
Port Townsend, from R-II to R-III zoning, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission for the City of Port Townsend
and the City of Port Townsend City Council have each duly held public
hearings and received evidence and testimony concerning the applica-
tion; and
WHEREAS, based upon the evidence presented, the City Council for
the City of Port Townsend finds that
1. A determination of non-significance under the State Environ-
mental Policy Act was issued on January 20, 1987.
2. No testimony or evidence was received in opposition to the
rezone request.
3. There are additional uses allowed in an R-III zone which are
not allowed in an R-II zone as set forth in the report of the Planning
Commission made upon this application.
4. There is a need for additional property within the City for
the proposed multi-dwelling uses suggested by the applicant which
would be permissible in the R-III zone, and the proposed use is in
the public interest. There has been a substantial change in circum-
stances such that the rezone of the property from R-II to R-III is
appropriate, and would substantially relate to and promote the public
health, safety, morals and welfare.
5. The rezone is consistent with the goals, policies and maps
of the City's Comprehensive Plan, and the proposed use would be com-
patible with adjacent land uses. Further, the rezone is consistent
with the goals and purposes of the City's zoning ordinance.
6. The request is reasonable, and should be approved.
Now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
