HomeMy WebLinkAbout2940 Ambulance Service Ordinance No. 2940 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE, CHAPTER 5.90 AMBULANCES, SECTION 5.90.010 DEFINITIONS, DEFINING TERMS FOR PURPOSES OF CITY AMBULANCE SERVICE WHEREAS, Chapter 5.90, Ambulance, Section 5.90.020 Applicability, provides among other things for the provision of emergency medical service in the City by the fire department, and WHEREAS, the City and Fire District No.1 provided by Interlocal Agreement effective January 1,2007 for the Joint Operation and Management of Fire Services; and WHEREAS, the Council determines it appropriate and necessary to maintain the limitation in Section 5.90.020 Applicability that provides, among other things, for the provision of emergency medical service in the City by the fire department, to clarify that this includes service provided by agreements such as the Interlocal Agreement with Fire District No.1. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as follows: SECTION I. Chapter 5.90, Ambulance, Section 5.90.010 Definitions of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows (text in strikeout is deleted, text in underline is added) J. "Fire department" or "City" means the City department proYidino response to fire and emerqency medical alarms in the City. and/or another public entity proyidino such service in the City pursuant to City contract or franchise. SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances, is not affected. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
