ORDINANCE NO. 2907
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND FIXING AND ADOPTING 2006
PROPERTY TAX LEVIES WITH AN INCREASE OF ONE PERCENT (1%)
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend conducted a properly noticed public hearing
held on August 22,2005, to consider the City of Port Townsend's General Fund, Fire and
Emergency Medical Services Fund, and Firemen Pension Fund budget for the 2006
calendar year, pursuant to RCW 84.55.120; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend, after hearing, and after duly considering all
relevant evidence and testimony presented, has determined that the City of Port
Townsend requires an increase in property tax revenue from the previous year, in addition
to the increase in the value of state-assessed property, in order to discharge the expected
expenses and obligations of the City of Port Townsend and in its best interest,
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does ordain that
an increase in the regular property tax levy, in addition to any amount resulting from the
addition of new construction and improvements to property and any increase in the value
of state-assessed property, is hereby authorized for the 2006 levy in amounts as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby levied upon all taxable property in the City of Port
Townsend, for the year of 2006, the sum of $1,545,224.96 as a general tax levy, which is a
percentage increase of 1.0% from the previous year.
Section 2. There is hereby levied upon all taxable property in the City of Port
Townsend, for the year of 2006, the sum of $349,125.85 as an emergency medical
services tax levy, which is a percentage increase of 1.0% from the previous year.
Section 3~ This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and
publication in the form and manner provided by law.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular
meeting thereof, held this 21st day of November, 2005.
