Ordinance No. 1734 was read for the first time by title only. It was moved by Councilman Cam- field, seconded by Councilman Judy, that the first reading be considered the second and that the third reading be by title only. Roll call, 6 yes. Motion passed. Ordinance No. 1734 was read for the third time by title only. It was moved by Councilman Judy, seconded by Councilman Cip- rioti, that the ordinance be adopted. Roll call, 6 yes. Motion carried. Ordinance adopted. ORDINANCE NO. 1735 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF A PORTION OF ADAMS STREET BETWEEN WATER STREET AND FRONT STREET, AND SPECIFYING TERMS AND CONDITIONS THEREFOR. Ordinance No. 1735 was read for the first time by title only. Discussion followed with respect to provisions allowing the city to cancel said lease in case of an emergency and whether the tank to be buried would affect parking on the street. It was moved by Councilman Camfield, seconded by Councilman Judy, that the first reading be considered the second and that the third reading be by title only. Roll call, 6 yes. Motion carried. Ordinance No. 1735 was read for the third time by title only. It was moved by Councilman Judy, seconded by Councilman Camfield, that the ordinance be now adopted. Ro~l~call, 6 yes. Motion carried. Ordinance adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 75-2 A RESOLUTION ~NCLUDING A PORTION OF BENEDICT STREET IN THE SIX YEAR STREET PLAN. Resolution No. 75-2 was read by title only. It was moved by Councilman Black, seconded by Councilman Ciprioti, that said resolution be adopted. Motion carried. Resolution adopted. At this time, Mr. James Wilson came forward and took his oath of office. He was then congratulated by the Mayor, attorney and-~council, after which he took his seat. Mayor Steve appointed Wilson to the following committees: Building and Properties, Chairman, Police and Licensing, Fire and Light. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, it was moved by Councilman Klenk, seconded by Councilman Ciprioti, that the meeting do now adjourn. Motion carried. MAYOR ø ATTEST~~ 'CITY CL -TREASURE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SESSION OF APRIL 15, 1975 The City Council of the City of Port Townsend met in regular session this 15th day of April, 1975, at 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Joseph B. Steve presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and members present were as follows: Mayor Steve, City Attorney Abraham, City Engineer French, City Clerk-Treasurer McCoy and Councilmen Black, Wilson, Parker, Camfield, Cipriotili and Klenk. MINUTES It was moved by Councilman Camfield, seconded by Councilman Ciprioti that the reading of the minutes of the previous session be dispensed with. Motion passeà. COMMUNICATIONS A letter from the Planning Commission recommending that the Street vacation for that portion of Grant Street between 19th and 20th Streets submitted by S.T. Smith, and Pat A. Allen, andDarrell E and Florence L. Johnson, be tabled pending investigation Planner Randy Tyler. Reportedly Mr. Smith withdrew said request. Mr. Tyler is to report whether all'-of the applicants wish to withdraw said request. request Ray H. by City as to COMMITTEE REPORTS Mayor Steve read a proclamation similar to one made by Governor Evans declaring that the month of May be dedicated to encouraging improvement of the quality of family living thereby giving strength to the cornrnunit¥ as a whole. Chief domes reported on a letter he received requesting that ~e be authorized to sign a document whereby the City of Port Townsend would join in a mutual aid agreement with other Port Cities on Puget Sound to pool resources in the event of a fire on the Sound. It was möved by Councilman Camfield, seconded by Councilman Parder that the chief be so authorized. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS A petition was read which objects to street lights being placed at the corner of T. and Maple, the corner of Fir and U., and the corner of V. and Maple. Said petition was signed by 15 persons, Mayor Steve refered the matter to the light committee. A request from L. Neil and Nancy J. Slater d/b/a Sea Breeze Trailer Park to vacate "that portion of 7th street lying between Hendricks and Sherman Streets. 2. A request from Richard H and Diana J. Fisher and George L. Gunn to vacate "that portion of 6th Avenue lying between Hancock and Sherman Streets. 3. A request frøm Richard H. and Diana J. Fisher and Jerry and Gloria Donahue to vacate that portion of Sherman Streets lying between 6th and 7th Avenues. I ADJOURNMENT There being no furthar business to come before the Council at this time, it was moved by Councilman Black, seconded by Councilman Klenk that the meeting be adjourned. STEVE I MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SESSION OF MAY 6, 1975 8 The City Council of the City of Port Townsend met in regular session this 6th day of May 1975 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Joseph B. Steve presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and members present were as follows: Mayor Steve, City Attorney Abraham, City Clerk-Treasurer McCoy, City Engineer French, and Councilman Klenk, Ciprioti, Judy, Camfield, Parker, Wilson and Black. MINUTES It was moved by Councilman Camfield, seconded by Councilman Klenk, that the reading of the minutes of the previous session be dispensed with. Motion carried. . Motion carried. COMMUNICATIONS A letter from Levi Ross of 324 E Street stated that, since he hauls his own garbage, he is deducting that amount from his utility bill and asks that it be left off said bill. I A letter from Charles I. Freitas of 5310 Chicago Avenue S.W., Tacoma, requested per- mission to install a 6-inch waterline to Lot 21 of the Supplementary Plat to Cherry Park. Mr. Freitas agrees to assume the cost of said waterline. A letter from Police Chief Doubek answered a request from the Council that he submit a recommendation concerning a petition to halt conversion of existing street lights to mercury vapor lights at Maple and T, Maple and U and Fir and U Streets. The chief listed a number of facts regarding street lights and their deterrent to crime, etc. He outlined the history of the conversion in Port Townsend to mercury vapor lights. His final recommendation was that the conversion continue. COMMITTEE REPORTS I Mayor Steve read a proclamation ln which he declared May 10 - 18 as Rhododendron Festival Week. Councilman Parker, chairman of the light committee, reportE:d that he and several I' other councilmen had gone out to the area where the controversy has arisen over the installation of mercury vapor street lights. He noted the police chief's recommendation that the lights be installed and agreed that said installation should continue. Several citizens of the area protested the installation. After consideramle discussion by the council, citizens and the mayor, it was moved by Councilman Parker, seconded by Councilman Wi150n, that the installation continue. Roll call: 6 yes, Camfield, no. .Motion passed. 0 8 NEW BUSINESS . Clerk-Treasurer McCoy informed the council that a call for bids was being let. bids for liability insurance to be opened at the second council meeting in May.
