Councilman Lindsey made a motion seconded by councilman Moody to ammend the original motion to include to maintain a drain in the proposed vacated street. Upon roll call vote motion 'Ii'las carried. ther e. to maintain motion I Engineer Warren informed the council that the constructal team would be here next week to take a ,hard look at the city hall. He also mentioned that each counc ilman hEld a note book on their desk with the new proposal and also there would be copies of pnwgandsam~ pnyg~m6s to be entered as time went along. City Attorney Abraham recommended the council to take some action to approve the new proposal for as he recalled at the last mGet1.ng there were two proposals which werecombined into one and not action was taken, tl;is proposal is the one that was ag~cptlcùpon but not acepted at that time. It was moved by Councilman Moody seconded by Councilman Lindsey to accept the proposal of Cramer, Chin & May02as now written. Mo~ion_carrieQ. I . Mayor Smi th brought up the call for bids for a new press garbage truck, he said he thought such a truck would ease and help the situation of the department and that the city could handle the cost of that type truck. After some discussion of operational èetai1s, Mayor Smit) said he would hold the request up until a later date. Supt. Hawley of the street department said he had talked to Councilman Lindsey, Siebenbaum and Ruby about the purchase of a new tar pot for the street department that was badly needed, it would cost around 1,500.00 and had the money in the present budget to purchase it, and at this time would àike to aske the councils permission to purchase a new tar pot. After some discussion it was moved by Couœ ilman Lindsey seconded by Councilman Ruby that the request be granted. Motion carried. -.8 City Attorney Abraham said that he would be presenting a voucher for travel due to a meeting in Seattle aon the Anti Trust suit on chlorine and also stated that one one these days we would be billed for a 1,000.00 for our share of ~he suit. Eng. Warren said that they had inspected the so called repairs of the hairline cracks at the treatment plan~ and found it unsatisfactory, he said that they insist that they dry the tanks one at a time and repair the cracks before they reccive their money. Mr Warren also stated that that repairs had been made on the pumping stations and that there should be no bill received. ADJOURNJVIENT I As there was no further business to come before the council at this time it was moved by Councilman Lindsey seconded by Councilman Siebenbaum that the meeting do now adjourn. Motion carried. Co=.IMITTEE REPORTS Councilman Judy reported for the light committee, saying that he had a request for a light at 49th & Landes and had told them to write a letter requesting a li~ht. He also stated ~hat a light had bBen installed at Lawrence & Kearney on trial basis and made a motion that the street light now be accepted. Seconded by Councilman Moody. Motion carriad. Councilman Scheyer said he would like to know whos responsfuole for the light poles along the new stretDh of highway that had been widened, he said it seemed to increase ~he hazard for the pavement now runs right up to the poles. City Attorney Abraham said ~he city haS no official status because of the fact that it is state highway right-of-way which is involved. Councilman Hoglund suggested that the city discuss the situation with Puget Sound Power & Li~ht Co. Mayor Pro-tern Siebenbaum referred the matter to attorney Abraham WllO offered to contact puget Power to see if anytlling could be done regarding the noles. I Mayor Pro-tern Siebenbaum said he would like to make a statement in regards to a request by ~œ Carrolto put in 2000' of 61t water liDe on Eddy St, he said they were going to put th street through, put in the line all at thùir own expense and could not see how the city could turn it down, he also said the ~ater Supt. would supervise the job. 8 Councilman Lindsey said that there was a little wc,ge problem in the street dept. the street crew were 10.00 lower than any of the ot,her departm_ents, he said a few of th.¡ co,ncihlen bud discussed this and it was felt they sho~ld be brought up to the same wage scale as the rest. Motion carried. I Engineer Warren mentioned that along the new stretch of highway on water street there has been no arrangements made for drainage and it should be made know to the High-way Department. He also stated that he would like to meet with the street committee after the regular meeting to discuss the UAB prowect. He also said that the crew would be here i~e 14th of April- to go ove~ the city hall. Councilman Lindsey said that the request of Mr Jacobsen for an extension of the sewer was tabled for this meeting, he said he could not see that anything could be done on his request. Councilman Lindsey made a motion seconded by Councilman Moody to reject the request of. ~w JaQobsen to run the main sewer line up to his property linè. Motion carried. Councilman Moody said that NIl" Daly was present and wanted to know if he had a report on the water situation in tr~e outlying areas. Mr Daly said that all he could report was- - there was progress. It was moved by Councilman Ruby seconded by Councilman Judy that the building permits be granted. Upon the question it was asked if the permit for the animal building was in the present fire zmne, after some discussion œ~uncilman Ruby withdrew his motion councilman Judy withdrew his second. Councilman Ruby made a motion seconded by coŒncilman Hoglund that all the building permits be granted with the wxcepition of the animal bldg. Motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS I Madge Wallen, Librarian announced that Library Week would start next week and that there would be an open house at the Library Wed, the 23rd at 7:30 p.m. Councilman Lindsey announced that- the ~~wer project had started up again. I Councilman Judy said that there had been request for street lights at 49th Eé Landes and at the Honda Shpp on Sims way, Councilman Judy made a moticn seconded by Councilman Lindsey that the old street light at 49t & Landes be replaced with a vapor light and a nèw vapor light be instaLLed at the Honda Shop at Sims Way. Motion Carried. Councilman Hoglund said that he h~d been contacted for a street light at 19th & Kerney St., he said that there "vas an old type light there which was out most of the time and it was a hazard at that area. Councilman Judy said he Imew of the light and it should be replaced with a vapor light, Councilman Judy made a motion secmded by Councilman Ruby that the old type light at 19th & Kearney be replaced with a vapor light. Motion carried. Attorney Abraham, W110 checked on whether or not the permi t for the animal building was in the fire zone or not, said that it was. After some discussion it was moved by Councilman Lindsey seconded by Councilman Judy that the building permit be granted on the condition that it be built to fire code standards. Motion carried. 8 Attorney Abraham reported that ~e had contacted Mr Knapp of Puget Power about the light pole situation on the new highway project, he said that Puget Power was alert to the problem and have it under advisement. Engineer Warren reported that a field investigation of the structural condition of the city hall had bec-m tè.lken and tha t a report would be issued at the firs t meeting, of May.
