The City Council of' the City of Port Townsend met in rer;ular session this 16th day of May
1967 at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the City Hall. Mayor Sullivan presiding.

Clerk Youngblood, Councilmen Swietzer, Hoglund, Ruby, Judy, Siebenbaum, Lindsey. Councilman

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS SESSION

seconded by Counc ilman Sie benbaum that the minutes be approved HS rE:ad and the Mayor and Ci ty

IFhe following b,uilding p ermi t was presented and ac ted upon as follows:

Mayor Sullivan referred the above col1'ù.'11unication to the street COl1Lî1i ttee, Street Supt. and
Ci ty Engineer.
The city clerk read a request f'rom the Union Oil Company for a iliO year extension at 25.00 per
year to maintain pipe lines on certain streets in ~he city of' Port Townsend.
It was the opinion of the council that the request of Union Oil Company be gré\nted.

The undersigned duly elected officers of' H.A. Parker Development Co., Inc., a Washington
corporation, owner of the abutting land upon the street herein requested to be vacated, here an~
hereby respectfully petition the City Council f'or the vacation of' tho following described porti~n
of city street, to-wit:
All thät portion of Front Street lying east of a line parallel to and 78 f'eet east of' the
east line of vacated Polk Street önd west of the prolongation of the east line of west 27.5
feet of Port Townsend First Class Tideland District No. 56.
Petitioners agree to pay costs of publication of any Ordinance vacating portion of' said stree'

It was moved by Councilman Lindsey seconded by CoMbcilman Siebenbaum that a public hearing
for the street vacation be held June 6th 1967. Motion carried.
;vJayor Sullivan asked the street committee to check the street in question.
Councilman Hoglund reported thät he had a call from Jane Campbell of the Weli'are Dept. asking
if the city \¡vould be interested in acquiring addi tional property besides the block of la nd ovmec
by Mr Po:r::ter. He said that he told her that he would mention it to the council but felt that
the city would not want any more property tham could be used in the f'oreseable future. He said
also that jlJinne Campbell had told him that Mr Porter had gone to Port Angeles to get an appraise~
on the block of land along side the treatment center but so far had heard nothj_ng from Mr Porter.,
but should by the next council ,meeting.
Councilman Swietzer reported on the mee ting thèJ.t vIas held at the fire hèJ.ll to fix the price
for garbage at Fort Worden. He said they arrived at a price but so far had not been able to
con tac t Mr Die1. He asked for another meeting ei ther on the 23 or 24th of May, that he would
contact Mr Die1 have him at the meeting and w,)uld call each counci1bman to tell them what date iti
would be held. - I
Councilman Judy on the terrace fountain, saying the mission was accomplished, the f'ountain had
been drained and repainted. Mayor Sullivan complimented Councilman Judy and Councilman Swietz~!T'
for a job well done.
City;Attormey Abraham said that Ivlary Lou Green Chairman of' the planning, commission hèJ.d asked
heim to report f'or her about adopting a building code and fire prevention code. He said that he
had met with a ommittee oi.~ the planning commission änd they had acquired several copies of the
latest addition of the uniform building code and uniform f'ire prevention code, and had given
copies to the chairman of' the building commi ttee and the chairman of the f'ire and light comrnittee,
and would like to have the comdttegs look them ov:er to see what type ordinance should be J
adopted.
Councilman Ruby said thèJ.t the portion of' 57th street where the new water system was going sho'ld
be widened about ten feet and the power poles should be m~ed back -and also some property owners
fences, at the present it is only a one way street. Mayor Sullivan refer~ed the sug';estion to
the Street Supt. and the City Engineer.
