He said that the new vapor lights should be installed and that at San Juan and F. St. a new vapor light should be installed as well. !Councilman Rudy made a motim seconded by Councilman Ruby that new vapor lights be installed in pl~ce of the old type lights. Motion car.ried. Counc ilman Ruby said thö. t I'ftr Porter. has asked. if the city would be int.eres ted in a .block of land right next to the treatment center. H~~ stated tha t the council should look into the matter and the~price should not exceed $4,000. City Attorney Abraham said that it would be a wise thing to do if the land could be purchased now for he was sure that in the near future the city w uld be required to have a secondary treatment plant. He said he was not sure but it might be possible thHt the land could be purchased out of the constructions fund. Mayor Sullivan referred the matter to the Finance Cmm~ittee to contact Mr Porter and see what could be done. Councilman Ruby said tha t the council should start looking for a mE.n to work lnent center for it would not be long before it would be completed. Councilman should be left up th the department head. Mayor Sullivan said that the matter under consideration. jVtr Ron Mayo of Carey and Kramer reported on the feasibility of sewer extensions on Discovery Road and Jackman Street, he said that he had contacted McLean and Co. financial advisor for the City of Port Townsend and it was their su~gestion that it would be best to wait until the ~ ese t construction on hand was finished. . 1æ Frank Badolato gave a short report on the progress of the sewer project, saying it was moving a little faster than before, but had trouble in trying to locate the sewer from the City Hall ö.nd so far hadnt found where the connection was, he suggested that the sewer pipe in the basement àlould be changed, for the line was clay pipe and should be cast iron. Councilman Ruby gave a report on the beautification tour before council meeting and Mrs Grady¡ was a very good hostess and mentioned that thoes that MXKX could not attend really missed something. at the New treat- Carter said that was already 8 I ADJOTJRNMEI~ T 8 As there was no furtner business to come before the council at this time, it was moved by Councilman Judy seconded by Councilman Siebenbaum that the meeting do now adjourn. NEìd & OLD BUSINESS Councilman Hoglund reported that he, Councilman Siebenbaum änd Councilman Sw:Letzer had inspec- ted the block of land next to the new treatment center. He said tha t also had contac ted !,Ir Manuel Porter who owned the land and told h-i_m the ci ty probably would be interested in acCluiring the land for possible future expansion of the treatment center. The price of the land quoted by Mr Porter was qui te a bit hiq;her thö.n the fin;UJ'e that they had came up with. He said tha tit was decided that an appraiser sÌlOuld be brouc;ht in to determinethe fair markedì value for the block of land in Question. IvIr Porter had told t~lem he wrnld go to Port Angeles and have someone from the Port Angeles Savings & Loan Co. come down and appraise the property, so far no word from L1r. Porter, but should have all the information that was needed by the next council meeting. Councilman 3wietzer reported that he hèld all the fir;ures for churr;es mID haul r;arbun;e from the' .fort to the rsarbage dump, and ì'Io_ld like to have a meeting of all councilman on ¡lay 9th 8,t 7:30 p.m. for discussion. Councilman Judy axked for the pool to be drained at the foot of the terrace so that it could b ,painted. :'.:ayor Sullivan sug~estê:d Councilman Judy to contact street Supt. Arey. Councilman Ruby asked vlhat was being :done if an;:tlling to the discovery bay road since the slashing was completed. Supt. Arey said he did not have the type of equipment needed to ~o further with the project of putting a path along the side of the road for foot traffic and for horses. Councilman Ruby sur;p;estëd that the street depart:'11ent use the garban;e department front. end loader to ~o the job. Enginoer Becker said that if that could be done, he would see that the equipment was moved to the project and also would furnish an operator if the city would pay the salary, it would take three or four days to complete and the amount of' salary would be around 100.00. Garbage Supt. Perkins said that he could not let the garbage go uncovered .for thö.t length of time, that it would be one big mess. Councilman Ruby made a motion seconded by Counc il!:1an Judy that the sjty use ~~he garban;e dept. loader to complete the project started and the city pay the salary for the operator furnished by the county. Motion carried. Councib18n Siebenbaum said that a new water line was needed ~ the N rth Beach area at 't'íilson and Gise at 75t~ St., A new house had been built and ::lore ~ in the pîanning and no water in . that area. He said he knew that a petition had been sent in to replace a two =-nch line at the North Beach area and that it was s~posed to be taken care of this year, but ~elt that it s~ould be put off for the time being so the new line c auld be ins ta.lled to take care of the new home. Councilman Ruby objected, he said it had been about .four years and the council had been puttin~ it off to replace the old line and felt that this year it should be completed. In the audience were a group of seniors, ì.l:r Jim Green who had been elected ~Iayor introduced other office holders that were ¡T esent. Mayor SU.llivEln said that the ?;roup would take over the city at 1:00 p.m. and vvould hold a council meeting and ur~ed all to attend that could.
