ON I Councilman Siebenbaum made a motion seconded by Counc i.lm an Hoglund tha t due to bid openings that the minutes of the previous ,session be dispensed with.a Motion car~ied. Northup Membership No. 6028-58 Dear Mr. Youngblood: The member wïll attain extended retirement age 58 plus-Uniform group - by January 1, 1967 and should be refired on that date unless his retirement date is extended on year further by Counc il action. Northup service as patrolman of the Police Department be extended to December 31~1 1967. Motion carried. PETITION FOR LEASE The following peti tion for lease was presented and acted upon as folloV1S: 8 DOUGLAS A. SMITH and AGATHA La. SMITH, husband and wife, hereby and herewith petition the Honorable City Counc il of the Ci ty of Port Townsend to lease to peti tioners a portion, of Grant Street' lying between the south boundary of Twelfth and the north boundary of Tenth Street, and that portion of Eleventh Street lying west of the west boundary of Sheridan Street, and the East boundary of Hendricks Street, all in Eisenbeis Addition to the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Wasnngton for a period of ten years. Pe ti tioners are the owners of Blocks 100, 101, 124, 125 of Eisenbeis Addi tion to the City of' Port Townsend and desire and in order to do so properly it is necessary for petitioners to have control ~ the streets in question, and accordingly a lease is hereby applied for. Clemens Grady Their Attorney Councilman Siebenbaum stated that he thought this was just a continuation on what they brought up before. They wanted the streets vacated, that was turned down, now they want a lease. He said that we have a planning commission that we work with and recommended that it be turned over to them for study 80 they could have a report back to the counc il at the next regular session. Councilman Sweitzer asked the City Clerk to wri te a letter to the planning commissi on along with a copy of the lease. Mayor Sulli van referred the above lease to the Street Commi ttee and the Plannine; Commission for a report at the next regular session. I CALL FOR BIDS The City Clerk informed the ".ayor and Council thClt bids were to be opened at this tinE for two police cars. He said that the street depö.rtment wus going to s tart to slash on one s ide of the road and try to get a trail 9.10ng side the. black top so. the kids co.uld .walk without being on the road. He said that there was no money budgeted to widen the St1 oulders at the II' es ent time. . Councilman Siebenbaum said that it was suggested that an eight foot width to the road be on both sides, he said he taught thö.t Vi.as to wide, there wæu.ld have to dirt hau.led in ö.nd also there would have to be drainage¡ut in, w!:1i ch would cas t a lot of money, he said he felt that a trail mould be put in on one side of the road so that the l{ids and horses .bouth could be off the road. - . Mr Kilmer spoke before the council and said th8.t if the ci~ would leave a dozer out there he would widen the road on v¡feek ends on his own time wi thou t cost to the city.. . . Councilman Ruby stated that he had numerous calls about the about bugs being in the water. Councilman Siebenbaum also said th8.t water was taken from Lords lake due to repairs at the Big Quil. dam, but now thö.t the repairs were over water was again being taken from the Quil river, which shoul, clear pp the bug problem. Mr Vince Lux spoke before the counc iI, saying that this was ~:1ot just now tha.t the water had bugs in it it has also been in the past as well and suggested that the council overhaul the complete system to get rid of the bugs, nnd organisms thö.t are poluting the water system. Mr Ted Drake also pointed out contamination due to seagull droppings in the reservoir. Mayor Sullivan referred the matter to the water committee for study ö.nd a report at the next regular session. Bid Opening It was moved by Councilman Siebenbaum seconded by Councilman Judy that the bids be opened at this time on the sewer project. Motion carried. , .
