AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1993 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS
PROGRAM TO INCLUDE PURCHASE OF REAL PROPERTY AT THE
SOUTHWESTERLY CORNER OF WATER AND ADAMS STREETS
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a Capital Improvements Program as part of the 1993
budget; and
WHEREAS,
the purchase of real property at the southwesterly corner of Water and Adams
Streets was not previously listed as part of the Capital Improvements Program as
funding had not been identified for the project; and
the Port Townsend Foundation has committed to raise funds for a portion of the
purchase price through donations and fundraising in a minimum amount of twenty
thousand dollars; and
WHEREAS, the Port Townsend Foundation now has on hand approximately fifteen thousand
dollars of the amount they have pledged to donate to the City; and
WHEREAS,
the owner of the property, Maritime Service Company, has arranged a cleanup
of the site by Chevron Oil Company which is now being completed, and now
wishes to complete a sale of the property and will sell to others if the City does
not finalize a purchase; Now, therefore:
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR
SESSION ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
The Capital Improvement Program contained in the 1993 budget for the City of Port
Townsend is hereby amended to provide partial emergency funding in the amount of
t4~s~rv-r/to~s',6~/t~ Dollars ($~0,o0) for purchase of real property at the
southwesterly comer of Water and Adams Streets.
This ordinance shall become effective five days after its passage and publication as
provided by law.
