HomeMy WebLinkAbout2597 Finance Director - Financial Analyst - Engineering Tech IAN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance 2567 to abrogate the
position of Public Works Administrative Manager and establish the
salary for the positions of Finance Director, Financial Analyst and
Engineering Technician I, and establishing an effective date.
WHEREAS, the City Treasurer has announced his retirement effective February 28, 1998;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended and the City Council has concurred that the
responsibilities of the position be upgraded to that of Finance Director, commensurate with the
increased managerial and financial planning needs of the City; and
WHEREAS, to provide for an orderly transition and to provide sufficient time for the City
Treasurer to complete critical projects, it is desirable to initiate the position of Finance Director as
soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, in order to improve financial controls and managemem information concerning
public works budgets and capital improvements, the Mayor has recommended and the City Council
has concurred that the position of Administrative Manager be replaced with the position of Financial
Analyst; and
WHEREAS, to improve project coordination and inspection of street and utility installations,
to better control costs of future maintenance and repairs, and to reduce reliance on consultant
services the Mayor has recommended and the Council has concurred that the Public Works
Department employ an Engineering Technician I to perform project coordination and inspection
services; Now, Therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 1 of Ordinance 2567 is hereby amended to abrogate the position of Public Works
Administrative Manager and add the following positions at monthly salaries not to exceed the
indicated amounts:
Finance Director ........................................................ $5,200.00
Financial Analyst ....................................................... $3,608.33
Engineering Technician I ................................................ $3,055.68
Section 2. All other salaries shall remain as previously established.
Section 3. Any and all actions taken pursuant to the authority of this ordinance but prior to its
passage are hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication in the form
and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times, and passed by the City Council and approved by the
