AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING SECTIONS
.190, TWO HOUR PARKING, AND SECTION .194, FIFTEEN MINUTE PARKING,
cHAPTER 10.04, PARKING, OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE, TO
ADD DESIGNATED STREETS AND PARKING SPACES NEEDED BY BUSINESS
PATRONS FOR TWO HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTE PARKING
WItEREAS, the City of Port Townsend designates certain streets within the City for short
term (two-hour and fifteen minute) parking, in order to provide adequate parking opportunities
for business patrons and persons needing to transact business in public buildings; and
WHEREAS, as a policy matter, the City Council deems it necessary that public and
private employees be discouraged from parking in areas needed for short-term business patron
parking; and
WHEREAS, through this Ordinance, the City Council intends to correct inconsistencies
which have developed between the posting of parking signs and the language in the Port Townsend
Municipal Code regulating public parking,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 10.04, Parking, Section .190, .Two-hour parking limit, of the Port
Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
10.04.190 Two-hour parking limit.
It shall be unlawful for any person to stand or park any motor vehicle continuously at the same
place for more than two hours between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on any day except
Sundays and holidays, on the following described streets of the city:
1. On Water Street from Harrison Street to Madison Street, and from Madison Street to Monroe
Street, on the street side adjacent to and in front of City Hall;
2. On Taylor Street from Front Street to Washington Street;
3. On Adams Street from Front Street to Washington Street;
4. On Washington Street from Tyler Street to Quincy Street;
5. On Lawrence Street from Polk Street to Taylor Street;
6. on Tyler Street from Washington Street to Front Street and from Lincoln Street to Clay Street;
7. On Quincy Street from Washington Street to Water Street;
8. On Polk Street from Water Street to Washington Street; and
9. On Madison Street, between ~b~tter Front Street and Washington Street;
10. On the 100 Block of Quincy Street, between Front Street and Water Street;
11. On %Vaterfront Place," in the area adjacent to Quincy Street and Front Street, to the west and
east of, and adjacent to, the Quincy Street dock, and behind the N.D. Hill Building; and
12. On 200 Block of Monroe Street, from Water Street to Washington Street. (Ord. § 1,

Ord. 1108 § 1, 1939).
SECTION 2. Chapter 10.04, Parking, Section. 194, Two-hour parking limit, of the Port
Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
10.04.194 Fifteen-minute parking.
It is unlawful for any person to stand or park any motor vehicle continuously at the same place
for more than 15 minutes between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on any day except
Sundays and holidays, on the following streets of the city:
A. Water Street between Madison Street and the alley bordering the east side of City Hall (directly
in front of City Hall).
B. Harrison Street between Washington Street and Jefferson Street, on the west side.
C. Van Buren Street between Washington Street and the alley, on the east side.
D. The two parking spaces immediately in front of the entry, door into the Waterman & Katz
Building; on the 100 Block of Quincy Street.
E. One parking space on Water Street, between Madison Street and the parking area bordering
the west side of the Police Station (directly in front of the Police Station). (Ord. § 2, 1999
Ord. 2000 § 4, 1984).
SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any
person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the
provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication
in the manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second, and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this 5'~' day of _~
