AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ADOPTING 2000 PROPERTY TAX LEVIES
WHEREAS the City o,f,~P~rt Townsend has properly given notice of the public hearing held
p~on November 22,~' to consider the City of Port Townsend's General Fund,
Contingency Fund, Bond Fund, and Firemen Pension Fund budget for the 2000 calendar
year, pursuant to RCW 84.55.120; and
WHEREAS the City of Port Townsend, after hearing, and after duly considering all relevant
evidence and testimony presented, has determined that the City of Port Townsend
requires an increase in property tax revenue from the previous year, in addition to the
increase in the value of state-assessed property, in order to discharge the expected
expenses and obligations of the City of Port Townsend and in its best interest; now
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
An increase in the regular property tax levy, in addition to any amount resulting from the
addition of new construction and improvements to property and any increase in the value
of state-assessed property, is hereby authorized for the 2000 levy in amounts as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby levied upon all taxable property in the City of Port Townsend,
for the year of 2000, the sum of $1,272,966.31 as a general tax levy, which is a
percentage increase of 0% from the previous year.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in
the form and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend, Washington, at a special meeting thereof, held this Fifteenth day of November,
1999.
