Subj: 2010 Election L'ates and Validation Requirements
Attached for your reference is a District Validation Report used to determine validation and what is needed to pass
local propositions. If running a Special Election in 2010, refer to the validation report for your district. The number
of voters necessary to validate a Bond Election Only is in the column labeled "40% validation". Of that figure, at
least 60% yes vote would be needed to pass. H1R 4204 was approved by the voters on November 6, 2007 that
provides for School M & O Levies needing only a simple majority to pass. There are no validation requirements
for M & O Levies.
Pursuant to RCW 29A.04 and Laws of 2009; Jurisdictions must now present resolutions for any of the Spring
Special Election dates to the County Auditor at least 45 days prior to the election. Resolutions to appear on the
Primary or General Election hallot must be presented to the County Auditor at least 84 days prior to the election.
Listed below are the Cut-off Dates for Submitting Resolutions, Election Dates and Dates for Certification for the
Year 2010. (Pursuant to Laws of 2009 - ESHB1018)

** May 18, 2010 election date is for tax levies that have failed previously in that calendar year and new bond
issues. The 3r° elettion date set for May expires Juty 1, 2011.
For Nonpartisan Offices on the ballot in the even-year, candidate filing will be held June 7 through June 11, 2010 in
the office of the Jefferson County Auditor. Courthouse hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday through Friday.
