HomeMy WebLinkAbout2769 Repealing PTMC Chapter 2.68 Arts CommissionOrdinance No. 2769 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND REPEALING CHAPTER 2.68, ARTS COMMISSION, OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is appropriate to remove from the Port Townsend Municipal Code all references to the various advisory city committees (except for certain committees established pursuant to state law, interlocal agreement, or otherwise, for example, Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC), Historic Preservation Committee (HPC), Planning Commission), in order to provide more flexibility in assigning tasks and providing direction to committees formed by the City Council. WHEREAS, the City Council intends to form citizen advisory boards and committees by resolution to allow for more flexibility and specific tasking of projects; and WHEREAS, the Council adopted Ordinance 2760 on March 19, 2001 removing reference in the PTMC to the Library Board, LTAC (except for substantive authority sections), Parks and Recreation Commission, HPC (except for substantive authority sections), and Nonmotorized Transportation Committee, and established by Resolution 00-012 general rules for citizen advisory boards, and established by separate resolutions the above boards, committees and commission, and WHEREAS, the City Council determines it appropriate to remove reference to the Arts Commission from the PTMC, in order to establish the Art Commission by resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as follows: SECTION 1. Chapter 2.68 Arts Commission, of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby repealed in its entirety. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
