CAROLMCG@MAC.COM 201-2434 L MCGOUGH February 19, 2010 To Whom It May Concern: | am submitting this building permit application to request removal of an existing fireplace that is not structurally sound. | had a building permit for a roof replacement in the fall of 2009 and as the roofers were starting their work, it was discovered that the chimney had major cracks. As we were facing rainy windy weather, the safest thing was to take down the chimney below the roof line so that the roofers could proceed with getting the roof on. We put a tarp over the chimney to wait until spring to address what to do. The price of rebuilding the chimney is not acceptable since it is a wood burning fireplace and is not efficient or environmentally friendly. | am requesting to replace it with glass window/doors. There are no exterior structural changes to the house other than dealing with the area where the chimney will be replaced with the window/doors.
