AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
REPEALING, SECTION 15.08, FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
FOR CERTAIN TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS, CHAPTER 15,
FIRE, OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, Section 15.08 was created to establish minimum fire and life
safety requiremems necessary for obtaining certification for buildings, or portions
thereof, either licensed or applying for license as transiem accommodations in the city
based upon the State law at the time; and
WHEREAS, in 1994 the State of Washington revised the building code and fire
codes to reclassify transient occupancies as a residential classification; and
WHEREAS, Section 15.08 is more stringent than the state code and is a
burden,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains
as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 15, Fire, Section 15.08, Fire Safety Requiremems for
Certain Transiem Accommodations, of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby
repealed in its entirety.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application
to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the
application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its
publication in the manner provided by law.

Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a
regular meeting thereof, held this 6th day of May, 2002.
