HomeMy WebLinkAbout3355 Repealing and Replacing Port Townsend Municipal Code Chapter 3.50 Relating to the City's Public Arts Program; Providing for Severability; and Establishing an Effective DateOrdinance 3355 Page I of 1 Ordinance No. 3355 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, REPEALING AND REPLACING PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 3.50 RELATING TO THE CITY'S PUBLIC ARTS PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend desires to repeal and replace Port Townsend Municipal Code ("PTMC") Chapter 3.50 relating to the City's Public Arts Program; and WHEREAS, the new code language better reflects the City of Port Townsend's commitment to expanding public experience by advancing awareness of, and interest in, the arts, in connection with the artistic and cultural development of the city; and WHEREAS, the arts enhance the built environment and social fabric of the community and are a fundamental part of Port Townsend's identity; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Port Townsend to ensure the continued support of public art through 1 % for the Arts funding; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend do ordain as follows: Section 1. PTMC Chapter 3.50.w„Public mmArts Pro ram, Rq?� filed.. and Replaced. Port Townsend Municipal Code Chapter 3.50 (Public Arts Program) is hereby repealed and now replaced as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto and by this reference fully incorporated herein. Section 2. Severability. If any sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause, or phrase or work of this ordinance. Section 3. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days followingcation its publication the manner provided by law.
