Ages 0-12. Comments: Dani is an absolute delight to work with! After working with her last year, I have been so excited to bring her back and offer a longer program series. This year we have scheduled out three different yoga storytimes at Chetzemoka Park. For our first session we had a small but highly engaged group. I recently added several new yoga picture books to our collection, and Dani and I worked together to create an outline that combined movement, breath work, and early literacy skills. My favorite book that we read was Hello Sun! A Yoga Sun Salutation to Start the Day by Sarah Jane Hinder. As I read this story, Dani walked us through the various positions and shared a few reflections about mindfulness and observing the beauty of the natural a 4'a7r dirumura "" Port Townsend Public Library June 2024 Monthly Program Report Date: 6/20/2024 Presenter: Faith Pray, Lily LaMotte, and Dori Butler Intended 7-12 Age: Attendance 38 Location: Carnegie Room Sponsored Friends of the Port Townsend Library B: Description: Join us in the Carnegie Room for an evening of stories, arts and crafts, and book signings with children's book authors Faith Pray, Lily LaMotte, and Dori Butler. Lydia and Julia will be introducing us to their herd of oddballs and outcasts, while sharing some of their handmade block -prints and photography (goato-shoots). Pink House Lawn Thursday, June 27th, 4pm-5pm Ground control goats is a small two-woman-1 7-goat glam rock / space themed goat grazing and art business. They offer local grazing services for blackberry, thistle, ivy, and more. In addition to grazing services, ground control also offers goat whimsy and joy in the form of goat block prints, goetry (goat poetry) videos, and goatoshoots as part of their Patreon membership. Ground control is hoping to expand the goat art/joy/whimsy this season to include public goetry readings, goat figure drawing classes and goat zines. Comments: June 27th was the last day of school for the Port Townsend School district and to celebrate we had a goat party at the library! It was the perfect timing for this program, and I am so glad that I was able to do our assemblies at Salish Coast on Wednesday morning and class visits at Swan School on Thursday. Several parents told me that their kiddo learned about this program at school during one of my class visits. I think this was the most fun that I have ever had at a library program! The whole event was an absolute joy. I was so impressed by Lydia, Julia, and their herd of "odd -balls and outcasts." We had a huge turnout with over 150 people and the goats were so patient with all of the kids who wanted to pet them, feed them, and dress a 4'a7r dirumura "" Port Townsend Public Library June 2024 Monthly Program Report them up in colorful costumes. It felt like something out of a children's book. I was also super impressed by the craft tables that Lydia and Julia set out with hand made block print stamps. I would love to have them back to do an art program with us someday! As I was walking into the library at the end of the night, I heard a parent say to their kids, "Don't we have the best library?" That moment brought so much joy to my heart. Enjoy an afternoon of storytelling and fairy exploration with Children's Book Author, Pheobe Wahl. We will be reading her book Backyard Fairies and then using natural and upcycled materials to construct fairy houses. Materials may include bark, twigs, shells, feathers, flowers, leaves, buds, and berries. Ages 7-12. Comments: What an absolutely magical day! This was one of our most anticipated programs of the Summer. Leading up to the program, several parents told me that they were so excited to meet Pheobe Wahl and build fairy houses with their kiddos. The Children's Room was packed for Pheobe's presentation. We could not have fit another person into the room. Families traveled from all the way from Whidbey Island to meet her and listen to her read Backyard Fairies and Little Witch Hazel. Pheobe was an absolute delight. She brought the gnome house that she originally created for Little Witch Hazel. It was so delightful watching the kids interact with Pheobe and ask questions about the house and her stories. After the presentation, Phoebe stayed in the Children's Room to answer questions and sign books. Meanwhile, we started the fairy house building activity. Kids and their families chose supplies from the shells, sticks, moss, bark, flowers, and leaves from the four stations that I set up. We had families set up along every pathway around the library. Fairy houses started appearing under benches, in the nooks of trees, and along the garden walls. It was so delightful to see all the different fairy houses at the end of the program. I hope to do this program again next year! a 4'a7r dirumura "" Port Townsend Public Library June 2024 Monthly Program Report Port Townsend Public Library June 2024 Monthly Program Report ,° e F 4 ' "i' '0@ p,fir, fl , m y xi f , w"+ e l ✓ ' ,a' .. ; 44 n A'fflM` 9 "h* a / "ptrc r 4f 9 / I q r + f ry ('•:C4 ? j ,~ 'V a/Hf/// / + r f faN it %iF v / II V I Y rc ✓ r i / t R I , lvl ; Vd: !"%' W Iy a 4'a7r dirumura "" Port Townsend Public Library June 2024 Monthly Program Report a 4'a7r dirumura "" Port Townsend Public Library July 2024 Monthly Program Report Read to Rover 7/25 Our most well attended Read 2 Rover summer event with three very different therapy dogs and 12 kid readers.
