Port Townsend in keeping the roads open during the winter. The careful sanding of vulnerable spots not only enabled our people to pro- ceed to and from their work, but also aided greatly in prevention of serious highway accidents. From Port Townsend Garden Club, It The City Clerk read a form -letter received from the Port Townsend Garden Club which was mailed out as a reminder of the Centennial to be celebrated in the summer of 1951 and regte sting cooperation in efforts to beautify the city in anticipation of the many visitors to be expected; and same was ordered filed. REQUISITIONS Police Department The City Clerk read a requisition from the Police Dept, for a'hew Police Car, as pro- vided for in the 1950 Budget". Requisition Granted It was moved by Councilman ;dauller, and seconded by Councilman Gleam n, that the fore- going requisition be granted and that the City Clerk issue a call for bids for a new Police Car to be equipped,'with motor of at least 110 H/P, high speed rear end , Police type gener- ator, and radio type battery. Bids to provide also for trade-in 1941 Police Dept. Ford-Sddat said bids to be opened at the regular session to be held on March 7, 1950. V. 0 0 I N ,.K 623,, - E , UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS •" Re:•. c0ondition of water Line Councilman Sullivan reported that Mr. Ziel, resident mahager for Crown 'Zellerbach Corp. had shown him sections of the pipe used in the renewal of portions of the main water line in 1945 and that such sections showed the Shop Welds to be a very poor quality. He stated fur- ther that consid erbb�•6gyagevelop from thi@�nd it may be well for other members of the Council to inspect t.e p pas sections on display at the mill. It was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman hronimo, that the City Clerk communicate with the Company which performed this work requesting that ❑ repreaentativ of the company come to this City for discussion of this subject. Motion carried. - Re: Double Parking Councilman Sullivan stated that in his opinion double parking on City Streets has becem so prevailant has to consitute an nuisance and a hazzard and steps should be taken to stop it. Councilman Meuller stated that any discussion on this subject would necessarily lead ,right back to the necessity for Parking Meters. Gasoline And Oil Bids This being the date and time set by motion of the City Council for the opening,of bids to furnish this City with its requirements of gasoline, stove, and Dispel oils during the year 1950; bids received were opened and prices noted as follows: Union oil Company of Calif. Gasoline -- posted tank -wagon price less .0175 per gallons (Today's tank -wagon price to be maximum for year 1950) . Stove Oil -- .134 per./gallon maximum (Deliveries of 400 gallons or more) Diesel Oil -- .119 per/gallon maximum (Deliveries of 400 gallons or more) Standard Oil Company of Calif. Gasoline -- posted tank -wagon price less .01:8 per/gallon Diesel Oil -- .113 per/gallon on 400 Gallons or more per delivery. Shell Oil Company Gasoline -- Posted tank wagon price less .0267 nor gallon (Maximum prices for year .1943 for regular and .2143 for premium) Stove Oil -- Posted tank wagon price less .01 per/gallon (Maximum for year .124 per/g .) Diesel Oil -- Posted tank wagon price less ,012 per/gallon (6:aximum,.107 per/gallon) General Petroleum Corp. Gasoline -- Posted tank wagon price less .0176 per gallon. Stove Oil -- Posted price less .005 (Maximum price for year, .134 per gallon) Diesel oil -- Posted price less .005 (Maximum price for year, .119 per gallon) Burner Oil Sales Stove oil A- Posted tank wagon price less .005 Diesel Oil -- Posted tank wagon price less .005 Shell Oil Co. bid accepted. It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the bid of Shell oil Co. be accepted, 8ome;:.be-Ingsthe lowest and best bid submitted for all products. Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Park Board plans outlined. By invitation of the Mayor, Mrs. Lee Davis, a member of the Park Board, Autllned the plans of the Park Board for the current year; specifically enumerating the following: Acquir- ing tide lands abutting the North Beach Park area, Installation of "?,cap off the Grass" sign on Taylor Street terrace, Providing method of auditing Park Fund bills before presentation to Council, and, Attempting to acquire additional property throughout city for future park ,development program, if and when same are available. It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the City Attorney and the City Clerk investigate possibility of acquiring tide lands abutting the North Beach Park property. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT i'
