Dear Mr. Cnr•roll: The Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce in our last regular meeting has'goneon record commending you and your bus lines for the splendid job done so far in serving this community with transportation at an economical rate. We wish to en- courage you to cmntinue the good work and offer your any aid that we can render you in continuing your service. Your bus line has done a great deal to aid the citizens of our community who live in the outlying areas to get to town for shopping. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS Curfew Ordinance An ordinance providing for a curfew for minors, which was read for the first reading at the last regular session and is incorporated in the minutes thereof, was read for the second reading at this time. It uas moved by Councilman Paddock, and seconded by Councilman Strele, that the effect hour for the older children, which had been left blank to this time, be set at 10:30 P.M., and that the third reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Third Redding and passage The ordinance under consideration was read by title only for the third reading and it was thereupon moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Paddock, that the ordinance do now pass. U1,on roll call vote, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Meat Insnection Ordinance An ordinance providing for the inspection of meat and meat products offered for sale within the city, which was read in full for the first reading at the last regular session and is incorporated in the minutes thereof, was presented and read in full for the second reeding at this time. It was moved by Coundilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the third reading be by title only. Upon roll call vote, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Third Reading and Passage The proposed ordinance was read by title only for the third reading and upon such read- ing it was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call vote, Councilmen Eronimo, Sullivan, Gleason and Steele voted in the affirmative, and Councilman paddock voted in the negative, and motion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEN BUSINESS Re: care of Hydrants. Councilman Sullivan Introduced the matter of the flushing and draining of fire hydrahts stating that this service should be performed regularly. The matter was discussed breifly but no action taken by the body. 1950 Pork Program Mr. Chester Irle, park board member, outlined for the council the plans of the Park Board for the year 1950 with respect to the improvements contemplated and the necessary finances therefor. The matter was discussed by those present for a short period. Re: Militaby prosoners released. Councilman Paddock Inquired as to what action might be taken by the city police when military personnel who had been turned over to the military police for infractions within the city were released by military authorities without action. It appeared to be the genera opinion that this was primabily a matter of cooperation between the various agencies. January 17, 1950 The CITY COUNCIL of the "ity of Port Townsaid, Washington met in regular session this 17th day of January, 1950, at 7:30 o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall Mayor Pro-Tem Dennis Sullivan, presiding. ROLL CALL Officers and members answering present to Roll Call were as follows: City Attorney C. T. Williams, City Clerk, C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Tony P. Eronimo, Dennis Sullivai y,'m. A. Paddock, Gen. F. Mueller, H. E. Gleason, Rnlph Steele, and Gen. J. Osborne. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION The minutes of the previous session were read in full and folloeing such reading it was moved by Councilman Meuller, and seconded by Councilman Eronimo, that the minutes be approved as written. Motion carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS City Treasurer The monthly report of the Ulty Treasurer for the month of December, 1949, was present- ed and read, and was referred to the Committee on finance and Claims. Water Supt. The report of the Water Supt. shout ng flow of water through main -line meters for a thirteen day period ending January 9, 1950, was presented and read and was referred to the Committee'on Water and Drainage. ' BUILDING PERMITS Requests fox, building permits were presented, read, and acted upon as follows: From James A. De Leo, to-u,it: Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: Permission las been asked to erect a dwelling, size 36/ x 48/ situate at Blaine and Quincy, at theestimated cost of $3599.00 for materials.
