Mayor Do-tem Sullivan stated that the purpose of this hearing was to give any citizen
the opportunity to be heard for or against the proposed vacation, and inquired if there
were any present who might wish to be heard.
VaeAtion Granted.
No objections having been made to the vacation of the streets upon which this hearing
was held, it was mewed by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Osborne, that the
vacation of streets, as requested, be granted and that the petitioners present an ordiunce
confirming some for consideration by the Council at a later session. Upon Roll Call vote
all seven Councilman present voted in the affirmative -and motion was declared carried.
Curfew Ordinance Consideration
In accordance with the action taken by the Council at the last regular session the
matter of consideration of an up to date Curfew -Ordinance for this city was taken up at thi
time. Upon request by Councilman Gleason, City Attorney Williams read aloud the Curfew -
Ordinance now in effect. Councilman Gleason stated that his purpose in asking for said
reading was to show that the provisions thereof were not applicable to present day condi-
tions.
Councilmen Steele, Mueller, and Paddock each spoke briefly upon the subject expressing
themselves to be in favor of reasonable Curfew regulations; and many of the spectators pre-
sent, including several high school students took part in the discussion which followed. It
appeared to be the general consensus of opinion among those present that a reasonable Cur- _
few• would not work Any hardship or injustice upon those who conduct themselves properly
but rather that it would afford them some protection.
'Khen discussion appeared to be lagging Mayor Pro-tem Sullivan stated that the subject
would be open fa, discussion again at the next regular session at whb h time the Council
would have available forms of such ppOrdinances now in effect in -other cities of the '3tate.
Re Construction of Curets and Gutters
Councilman Gleason introduced the matter of the possible construction of additional
curves and gutters along City Streets stating that it had been bell demostrated by the
project recently completed that such improvement is highly desirable and that in view of
the additional labor now available by reason of assigment of workmen drawing reli6f to the
City for work upon the streets it might be possible to develop a project whereby owners of
abutting property would pay the cost of materials required and labor be provided from spurt
mentioned. City Engineer .loner advised the Council that the number of woricens available
from day to day was very uncertain and it would therefore be difficult to set up jobs for
the purpose resolved by Councilman Gleason. This matter was referred to the Street Com-
mittee, Street Supt. Lyall Arey and City Engineer Keith Jones for consideration and later
report.
ADJOURMENT
,,No further business appearing for consideration by the Council, it was moved by Counci
man, and seconded by Councilman Gleason, that the Council do now adjourn. Motion carried .
