It was moved by -ouncilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Eronimo, that the fore-
going permits be granted. Y.otion carried.
UKFINISHED AND NUN BUSINESS
Re: Operation of Police Radio
Councilman Paddock stated that inasmuch as the short wave radio system for Police and
Fire Departments should be installed and ready to operate in the near future, certain
regulations as to such operation should be made by the Council. Councilman Paddock then
moved that the four fully paid fire truck drivers be designated as operators of the trans-
mitting unit subject to supervision of the Police Chief pnd Fire Chief and that each of the
drivers be so notified. This motion was seconded by Councilman Gleason and upon roll call
vote all seven Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
Street Surfacing Dids not submitted.
The City Clerk reported that no bids had been received in response to published call
for same for the purpose of surfacing those portions of Washington and Adams Streets now
being improved by contract with L. 14. Ddw,.
It was moved by Councilman mueller and seconded by Councilman Gleason that the City
Engineer be authorized to proceed with negotiations for such surfacing by -the best obtainab
means, City Lngineer Jones outlined to the Council the probable method by which this work
could best be completed. upon roll call vote upon the foregoing motion all seven Councilme
present boted in the affirmative and mbbion was declared carried.
Re: 8ond for Carnivals, etc.
Councilman Gleason reported that the condition of the grounds occupied by the Scal
brothers Circus during their recent sojourn here had again demonstrated the need for some
provision whereby the premises would be left clean at no cost to the city. He moved that
the ordinance or ordinances providing for licensing of c2rcuses, carnivals and all other
such forms of entertainment or business be nmendAd to provide that a p500.00 cash bond
be required to insure proper clean up of the area occupied at time of departure. In case
of sailure to properly clean the grounds sufficient of the cash bond to be forfeited to the
city as would be necessary to reimburse the city for work preformed to complete the clean
up. This motion was seconded by Councilman Steele, and carried by voice vote of the member
present.
