Dow, and the certified chec of the unsuccessful bidder be returned. Upon roll call vote, all six Councilmen present. 1}' wted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Hfw�xa ' •t Expression of appreciation.;v �� ., s� i ¢ �rb �•� Dr. George Bangerter, speaking by invitation of the:Msyor, expressed appreciation,,of,: 1 the help extended by the city employees during the Rhododendron Festival, particularly the „ Street and Police Depts.; and for the fine job of sanding dangerous sidewalks during•the.,;i bad weather of the past winter. I Re: Clearing of Street Corners Councilman Gleason reported that there vras considerable complaint of the removal of trees and shrubs from parking strips at dangerous corners, and asked that the Leader.carry information to the public that this wort: was ordered by the council for safety purposes and ' complaints should be presented to the council, in writing. ,r . Councilman Paddock stated that he felt that a list of persons seeking employment with the city should be kept for the purpose of filling future vacancies, and moved that such a listing be set up and and maintained by the City Clerk. This motion was seconded by Councilman Gleason, end,unon roll call vote, Councilmen Gleason , Osborne, Eronimo, Paddock and Mueller voted in the affirmative, and Councilman Sullivan voted in the negative and mots n was declared carried. Bids called for surfacing. City Engineer Jones advised the Council that surfacing of those parts of yashington and Adams Streets to be improved had been delayed because it appeared that prices would be more favorable at a later date. Conditions were now more favorable and bids for this work should be called, as the work vras necessary for completion ofthe pD6'dect. It was moved by Councilman Gleason, and seconded by Councilman Eronimo, that the city call for bids for the -surfacing as outlined by the Engineer, said bids to be opened at the regular session of July 5, 1949. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT No further business apperaing Pan consideration by the Council at thistime, it was mov by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Muellee, that the Council do now adjourn Motion carried. //%% Mayor, Pro-Tem. ROLL CALL Officers and +}.embers anwering present to roll call were as follows: Mayor pro tem Dennis Sullivan; City Attorney 0. T. 'o4illiams; City Clerk C. F. Christian; and Countilmen Ralph H. Steele, Tony P..Eronimo-i l.'illiam A. Paddock, Geo. F. Muller, and Horace E. Gleaso YINU'T'ES OF PREVIOUS SESSION -- Minutes of the previous session were read in full and follaeing such reading, it was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Yueller, that the minutes be approv as read, Motion carried. APPLICATIONS FUR LICENSE The City Clerk reported receipt of applications for taxicab drivers license from Charles A. McEwen, and Theodore L. Olson, both of which had not been approved by the Chief of Police as yet. It was moved by Councilman Mueller, and seconded by Councilman Eronimo that the licenses be approved subject to the signing of the Ghief of Police. Motion car•rk REPORTS OF OFFICERS City Treasurer The monthly report of the City 'Treasurer for the month of June, 1949, was presented and read, and was referred to the Committee on Finance and Claims. Water Superintendent The report of the Water Supt. showing the flow of water through the 20" Meter City Limits and the 6" Hedlock-Irondele lines for the two week period ending June 20, 1949, and the flow of water through the Crown •Lellerbach Corp. 20" meter for the week ending Junelll 1949 was presented and read and referred to the Committee on bttrra--and=L-ight. ✓fin.* I -c:, M;, 41 e a i
