Councilman Pnedock reported that because of a misunderstanding as to which Committee

Dear Sir:
I am writing this,to see if this can be true, I received a notice from the Water
Department, that ,your Council, with your aid have made a law, to force everyone to pay
754 each month, wether we have any garbage or not, I don't feel that I can afford to
pay for garbage, I haven't got any of.
^hat little 1 have, 1 make compost of, when 1 have any cans, I pay the garbage ma
to take them away.
I am living on a pension, and just can't pay for other peoples garbage, you know
the prise of everything 1 can't make ends meet, If 1 have to pay this extra 75 a mont
& if 1 have that to do, 1 will have to cancell all insurance on my house & furniture,
from now on, I wish you would let me know if this is true. All about the 75¢ extra fo
garbage, as I know 1 can't do it even if the Council puts a lein against my house,
which can't do anyone any good, willk=one to hear from you about this.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. H, L;c"ean
821 Polk St, City
Mayor A%derson stated that he advised the writer of the foregoing letter that the
information received relative to payment for garbage service was correct and that the lette
