CHRISTIAN, being first Duly sworn on oath, deposes an`d says that he is the regularly elected, qualified and acting City Clerk of the City of Part Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington, that he posted notices, of which the attached is a full true and correct copy, in the following places In the said City of Port Townsend, Was -tM ington. i One at the front door of the City Hall in the City of Port Townsend, One at the front door of the Jefferson County Court House, One on the bulletin board at the corner of Taylor and Water Streets in said City, and, �~ Two on the part of street sought to be vacated; I j That such posting was made on the 15th day of February, 1949. Mayor Anderson Stated that the purpose of this hearing was to give any citizen the opr:ortunity to speak for or against the proposed vacation, and inquired if there were any present who wished to so speak. Street Supt. Lyall Arey advised the council that care should be taken to prevent the vacation of streets where the removal of earth therefrom would endanger intersecting stree s. After short discussion, it was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman ° Mueller, that the vacation be granted, prov&ded that the petitioner present a proper ordinance confirming ssme and bear the cost of publication ofthe ordinance. Upon roll cal vote, all seven councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carrie y P Re: Proposed Yorgan Hill Sewer. I� � Councilman Gleason reported that the City Engineer had completed the survey for the i proposed sewer district on the nobhherly side of Morgan Hill, plans and specifications % were being prepared, and an estimate of zest should be ready for presentation at the next regular session. Re: Files for Clerk's Office. Councilman Sullivan spoke of the need for additional filing facilities for the City Clerk's office, and it was agreed among those present that the Building Committee should meet with the Clerk to determine the needs and possibilities for the installation of additional files. 'a Re: Radios for Police Cars. jc}. a C¢ Councilman Gleason introduced the matter of the possible installation of a two-way: radio system upon Police and Fire Dept. equipment. He stated that y p p p provision had hedn made in the budget for former years for such equipment but had mot been able to procure it at that �^ time, and this item had not been included in the present years budget. A demonstration -;� of the operation of this equipment had been witnessed by the Police and License Committee: recently and it was felt to be advisable to equip the two Police cars and one of the Fire trucks with such equipment; transmitter could be installed in the new Fire Hall.. j that the City call for bids for the installatio lk e• Councilman Gleason moved purchaaaeand of the equipment specified above, such bids to be opened at the regular session of the fib, City Council to be held upon Aptil 19, 1949. Councilman Mueller stated that such equip - men t would increase efficiency and reduce criticism of the administration of these depart- y; i manta and seconded Councilman Gleason's motion. Councilman Paddock inquired as to the possibility of licensing, os• restricting the activities of peddlers within the city. After discussion, Councilman Gleason recommended that the 'City Attorney make a study of this prob&em and report to the Council at a later session. City Attorney Williams advised the council that he had a bulletin containing the ordinances of other cites on this subject, and would prefer to meet and confer with the members ofthe Police and License Committee to determine their wishes. ADJOURNMENT. No further business appearing for consideration by the Council at this session, it was moved by Councilman Mueller, and as conded by Councilman Sullivan that the Council do now adjourn. Osborne MINUTES OF PREVIOUS SESSION The minutes of the last regular session were read in full and upon completion thereof, be it was moved by Councilman Steele, and seconded by Councilman Sullivan, that the minutes approved as read.
