HomeMy WebLinkAbout00579 minutes be approveu UNFINISHED AND NEW bUS1NESS Flag ordered for 'Terrace Mayor Anderson notified the Uouncil that in the past he had personally provided the flag for the pole upon the Taylor Street 'Terrace, that a new flag was again needed for this location, and that he 1'dlt that it should be purchased with city funds. It was moved by Uouncilman Mueller and seconded by Councilman uleason that the Mayor be authorized to purchase a proper flag for the terrace flag pole, some to be paid for with city funds. S.otion carried. Recess The Mayor declared a short recess at this time, 8.40 P.M. and the Mayor and members of the Council retired to the Mayor's office. Reconvened and holl Call The Uouncil reconvened 1n regular session at 9:10 U'clock P.Y. and upon roll call the following officers and members were noted presented Mayor H. E. Anderson; City Attorney C. i. 1illisms; City Clerk; C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Ralph H. Steele, Geo. J. Osborn Tony P. Eroni.mo, Dennis Sullivan, filliam A. Paddock, Geo. F. Mueller, and H. E. Gleason. Engineer reports on City Streets City Engineer Keith F. Jones reported to the Council that the lead restrictions upon trucks which had been in force during the period of thawing could now be lifted. Mr. Jones outlined the major areas of damage to streets and the reasons therefor and stated that in order to prepare certain of the city streets for surfacing a considerable amount of funds would be required. ..r. Jones briefly explained the necessary steps to be taken in such preparation, one of which was that of properly ballasting of the road bed, and advised the aincil to attempt to locate property which would provide additional ballast material. he: Shuffleboard license Mr. L. E. Thompson, by consent of the members, addressed the Council, stating that it was his opinion that the city erred in levying a license upon shuffleboard games in that this is an amusement which is available to minors and thereby aids in keeping children off the streets and out of mischief. In the discussion upon this subject, Councilman Sullivan stated that Mr. James Daubenberger, one of the local operators,of these games had been present at the session when this ordinance was requested by the council and had offered no objections at that time. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the Council for their consideration at this time, it was moved by Councilman Sullivan, and seconded by Councilman Steele, that the Council do now adjourn.
